My brother is thinking about picking up a 300CE (as previously posted). There is one in Dublin that seems to be a bit of a bargain- it seems to have no history but and the mileage is suspiciouly low but he says that there's a crack in the rear windscreen-

These are good ol' cars and if you decided it wasn't on the verge of falling apart, you might have a decent car at low money BUT- has he specifically mentioned the cracked screen because he knows it's a bloody fortune?

That rear screen is going to be VERY expensive - it's laminated.

I'd be very very wary of any W124 with a low mileage, because any that I have looked at were 150,000 miles plus and didn't show their age ! I think mine has had a haircut - supposedly 106,000 miles yet... the steering-wheel is worn worse than my other car (122,000 miles). I replaced the headgasket on that car and found that the piston bores still had their honing from the factory (amazing). So, the engine, the bodywork, the interior - they just don't show the age like most other cars.

Amazing that such an expensive and prestige car as the 300CE you found does not have documentation.

Myself and the brother are heading up for a look see over the weekend but I reckon there's a good 99% chance of time wasting. Usually, you only mention one flaw as a diversionary tactic, hence the screen.

A specialist car like this without service history is probably a white elephant but if it's running okay and he'll accept a LOT less, you could have a sweet motor, provided you don't want to shift it quickly...

That's a terrible ad, no good pictures.

The body language of the whole thiing is off. A photo of a single panel would lead me to believe that it's the best of what is around it...I'm extremely scepticle about the honesty of the guy but my brother thinks it won't hurt to look, it could be a bargain...
