    got this as a result of the only thing available in skibbereen without line rental,but i thought i would be quicker than 53.6kbps constant!?!
    is there anyway to pimp this speed?

    No you cant make the speeds faster if you are in gprs coverage. You have to be in HSDPA coverage to get broadband speeds.

    Depending on where exactly you are in Skibbereen, you may be "nearly" in a 3G (HSDPA) coverage area. Look at the coverage map here http://www.vodafone.ie/roaming/domestic/network/index.jsp

    If you're close to the coverage area, try moving the modem to a window on the side of the house closest to the coverage area - this should improve the signal strength a little, maybe enough to get 3G reception.
