I don't see this being the kind of witchhunt you get in the US. I say it's a) a way for the gorvernment to look like it's doing something, and b) a way for researchers to make money on another study that won't provide anything new. Can't imagine it effecting any game releases, (but just in case, I'm going to play Doom non-stop for the next week so I'll be suitably trained to kill anyone who tries to take my games away!).

I'd say we should play something more tactically oriented, like Rainbow 6 (or something that actually has tactics in it). That way we can storm any government building, using our master assassin like agilty and delta force style gunplay to overwhelm any opposition...

But before that, go install System Shock 2!!

Yes its computer games that are causing the problems . Granted a kid played manhunt and killed another kid. Thats 1 . Instead of carrying out this Study , use the time spent and the money spent and battle the drugs problem.

If i want to go out and buy manhunt 2 i cant because it has been banned.

If i want to go out and buy drugs , thats no problem.

Actually iirc it was the victim that played manhunter and not the killer. God damn the Daily Mail.

Yeah, I remember the coverage of that, about how the killer played violent games all the time. And when it was realised that it was actually the victim that played the games, not a word was mentioned.

That's how it happens, after V-tech ole Jackie boy and some others (Dr Phil etc) all went on rants about how this guy is a hardcore gamer, plays CS all the time and he trained to be a killer. Turned out to be complete garbage, the guy didn't play any games, he didn't even have any games installed on his PC.

Anyone remember the commotion over videogames and the virginia tech massacre? Games were blamed again until it was revealed that the killer never played videogames. In fact his room mates thought he was weird because he wasn't playing videogames like nearly every other male his age. Of course that makes boring news so wasn't reported by anyone other than the specialist press.

I read that completely wrong. Thought when you said V-Tech you meant the educational computer company V-Tech was having a go at violent videogames :D
