Those of you who regularly drive up and down the Naas Road will know they've given the bus lane a bit of a face lift starting outside Michael Tynan Mitsubishi and continuing down past Joels.

There are now signs for a rising bollard about 100 metres away from Joels in the bus lane which is now off the main road, and the bollard itself is firmly in place.

I think it'll only be a matter of time before we see something like this.

Does anyone know how long it will be before it becomes operational?

No idea when it is operational, but the signs and bollards have been in situ since the beginning of the year.

They should put them at every junction, with an indicator detector on them. No indicator, no entry :D

This rising bollard is currently active. How does it detect taxis?

I find it strange, as this road is signposted as Bus/Access only, one accesses Monastery Lane via this road, but now one has to sit in traffic on the main carriageway to get down past the bollard.

It's trhe same as any left turn at a bus lane, you have to wait till just before the junction before the bus lane turns into a broen white line for the left turn, why should this be any different?

Its definitely active now, saw a jeep this morning stopped in front of the bollards waiting for them to drop. :D BTW Your not supposed to turn in at Michael Tynans Motors and use the bus lane for access to the Monastery road. There is an access point further up past Joels where you can turn in.

A large kerb makes a difference here.
