Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Gmail Inbox fails to load in IE7 on Vista Basic

On a friends computer, the Gmail Inbox fails to load in IE7 on Vista Basic. This is a Dell notebook, the home page is set to Dell's customised iGoogle page. The Inbox preview appears normally, along with the other iGoogle gadgets, when the Inbox link is clicked another tab opens, but a blank page keeps loading. I've uninstalled the Google toolbar, turned off the IE7 pop-up blocker and tried putting the Gmail web address into the trusted zone, none of those solved the problem.

The only thing left I can think of is the McAfee Internet Security software, there doesn't appear to be a pop-up blocker there, but there may be something else in this software preventing the page from loading. I searched the internet for information on this and there's not much help avaialble on this problem. So I'd appreciate any help with this issue. Thanks.

Just had a thought, Gmail is mostly java based, is java installed on the laptop properly?

You shouldn't have to install Java to see your inbox, if you dont have java, it will switch to normal html mode.

Try turning off any pop up blocker software you have enabled. I had this problem when Gmail first started and turning off the pop up blocker fixed it. If this doesnt work try adding http://www.gmail.com to your trusted sites list.

He's tried that already. Does the same problem manifest itself in Firefox?

Thanks for all your replies. I was about to install Firefox, as a workaround but the Gmail Inbox did appear. Just by coincidence, I noticed the wrong system date and time were set, I set the correct date and time and the Gmail Inbox displayed. It might have also had to do with restarting the system after I uninstalled the Google Toolbar. (There's a known issue with the Google Toolbar pop-up blocker and IE7 pop-up blocker, causing problems for Gmail.) Thanks again for all your responses.

Install firefox anyways, it'll give you much less headaches in the future and will offer much better security.
