Congrats Cbyrd on the new baby boy :)

DL I'm so happy you got to see what sex the baby is, a precious little girl, how exciting!!!

Well my midwife called and said my consultant has signed me off for the Domino Scheme, yay I'm thrilled I wasn't sure I was going to get accepted :)

    I think it's time I join this club, 7 weeks today :D
Feeling alright apart from constant tiredness, which really kicks in after lunch I almost feel like bringing my pillow in to work :o

Welcome Dimple :) and Congrats! Wishing you a healthy and happy 7 months ahead!

MS that's great news :) Congrats! You mist be thrilled!

Well I went to my Physio today.. WMPM you were right! Total waste of my time, but considering I had nothing to do anyways is was at least good to get out for an hour lol! They gave me a support belt to try ease the pains, she said it should work immediately.. It doesn't! I'll still give it a go for a few days and see if it helps.

Soo delighted for Cybrd :) does anyone know what she called him?!

Well, glad it wasnt just me, I am so sick of taking so much paracetamol, just to be able to function. I have called the hospital and doctor about a support belt and they both say the other should advise me which one to get. I give up.

If I knew which one to get for Sciatica, I would just buy it but I dont want to put more pressure on my disks like last time.

Amazing how Physio does nothing but Yoga gives 2 days without pain, doesn't make sense.

Delighted for Cybrd, mad how the minute you stop running around, it all kicks off.

Congrats to the new mammy :)

Have any of you experienced period-like pains in the third trimester? Had one this mirning when I got out of bed, and just had another one there this evening for around 10 mins, but rest of the day was fine. Am 35 wks today.

congrats cbyrd! and welcome dimple :D

funny how experiences vary - i LOVE the maternity physio here, they couldn't have been more helpful so far (had 4 appointments with them so far), managed to ease the pain, showed me some good exercises and really made my backpain more bearable! Got the support belt as well, and I find it helps me a good bit, keeping my pelvis/hip more stable. It does get a bit uncomfortable after a while, but I noticed the improvement straight away!

Cunning - could it be Braxton-Hicks?

Getting a lot of round ligament pain at the moment, but apart from that, it's s all good...scan tomorrow for low-lying placenta, hopefully they'll give us a decent look at the baby as well ;-)

Im wondering if anyone has had a similar problem, Is breathing an issue in early pregnancy.. i know shortness of breath from walking up the stairs etc but i'm sitting here watching telly finding it quite hard to breathe fully... like i cant take enough deep breaths, then i feel like i'm panicing! Has anyone experienced this? Im not worried or having panic attacks, im having some pains in the side of my lower adomen and at the same time feeling like i can't breathe... I wonder if this is a result of a surge of hormones being released in my body as the uterus is growing..

Just seeing if anyone has had a birth kneeling up on the bed or standing in the Coombe.
I suffer from a bad back and SPD and was told by Phyiso to try to stand up or at least be upright.
However when I mentioned this to the anestist she said she has never seen anyone doin this in the Coombe.
Can anyone shead a Lil light on this for me I'm 37 weeks
    Thanks

yeah I am getting crampy pains that are stopping me from moving in past week--- I think its baby trying to find exit (I hope) I am almost 38 weeks btw......

If it happens when I am in bed/lieing down, I have to stand up and let it pass

Yeah, I get them on and off. If you feel your bump is it harder than usual? I think it's braxton hicks, that's what I'm assuming it is anyway. Sometimes baby moves with it and sometimes baby presses down. I'm 37 weeks now and they're definitely becoming more frequent.

I dunno what the procedure is for the Coombe, but I reckon any way that feels comfortable for you to give birth, you tell them that's the way you want to do it. I don't know about standing up, but in the antenatal classes we were told you could kneel on the bed facing the wall and lean against the wall, if you get me? :D Talk to the midwife/consultant at your next visit.

    Hi There

I am only in my 7th week at the mo (yes I know extremley early!) but I'm already freaking myself out... I've had 2 emotional outburts first one was last week when I woke up and all my "pregnant feelings" has gone i.e sore boobs, stomach flutters.. They returned back the next day thank god! The second one was yesterday when after lunch I developed a stitch like pain in the lower left part of my stomach.. Every pain or twinge I'm feeling upsets me so much because obviously it's my first time and I don't know what feelings are normal and what aren't.... Theres no blood spotting at all but I also haven't had any morning sickness...Is it just me freaking myself out or does every first timer feel like this at the start, My first appointment with the hospital isn't until the 22nd November

    Congrats on your pregnancy!

If you are worried you can always visit your gp.

I got a lot of those twinges early on (mine were on the right hand side mostly) but aparently that's your ligaments stretching to cope with your expanding uterus! (it freaked me out though at the start!). Not everyone gets morning sickness either so that doesn't mean things aren't ok (lucky you if you don't :) ).

I'm a first timer too, and at the start, especially before my first scan, I was so worried something would go wrong or that every pain wasn't normal. I calmed down though and am now enjoying the learning experience! :)

    Best of luck!

Thanks so much... God what a minefield though! I never thought I would go through so much worry just being pregnant... Heres me thinking the worry only starts when you have the baby!

Well done Cbyrd! That's a lovely name choice and a nice little weight too! :)

Poncho739 I had some pain early on in my first trimester, I was told it was all the growing going on in there and everything stretching. The fact that there is no blood is a good sign but if you are worried you should talk to your GP. Oh and congrats :)

Well last night I felt my first proper movements. I've actually been feeling 'bubble-like' feelings since 14 weeks but have said it to too many people as the ones I have have contradicted me saying I couldn't possibly feel anything that early on my first baby but I was trying to concieve this baby for a couple of months so I'm very aware of every twinge and pain in that area of my body ;).
Anyway got up last night on one of my many trips to the toilet and on the way back the cat scared the living daylights out of me sitting on the stairs, my heart was still thumping by the time I got back into bed and I think the adrenaline must have woke the baby cos I got a massive punch on the right side of my belly button followed a couple of seconds later by 3 or 4 more, there was no mistaking what it was. It was such a nice / omg feeling, can't wait to feel some more :)

Hi Poncho, congratulations. The best advice I got from GP on my first pregnancy, which I completely ignored, was to forget you're pregnant and just carry on as normal. Now as I say, I completely ignored it and every twinge and ache I got I was full sure was something going wrong. Turned out everything was fine and I had a beautiful baby boy at the end of the pregnancy. I just wish I hadn't been so panicky the first few weeks because it ruins the enjoyment of it all and makes the weeks drag in.

So on this pregnancy I did just that, took my folic acid started eating healthily, cut out the alcohol, but other than that I tried not to focus too much on the pregnancy and I found the first 12 weeks just sailed by.

You will probably get twinges, you will probably get some aches, you might even get a bit of spotting, none of them are necessarily bad signs, but don't forget, your GP and hospital are available any time you think something isn't right, don't be fobbed off and stand your ground with them.

Sorry for the waffle, but best of luck with the pregnancy xxx

*pulls up a chair, brings in the popcorn and waits for cbyrd to get back* :D

Yes I think every 1st timer worries about every little thing. I'm 39 weeks at the minute on no. 1 & haven't had morning sickness once, nor have I had any bleeding, spd or anything else really. I had extremely sore boobs for the first trimester & they stayed quite big all the way through up to maybe the end of the 2nd trimester, but now I think they're back at my normal size. Stitch like pains like the others said are probably just stretching pains, but any worries and you should contact your doc.
Just try and chill and enjoy the pregnancy especially if you aren't getting any of the awful symptoms that some poor others get.

22+4 today, and had my big 2nd trimester morphology scan this morning.

Everything is grand and where it is supposed to be. As usual, baby was being stubborn, wouldn't move and the gyny couldn't see his second arm and had to break out the dildo cam! He had his hand up over his head.

Good news in that the baby has turned around and now has his head down (last scan he was the other way round so the gyny was worrying me with tales of caesarians etc!), which explains why the kicks and movement have been feeling different and a bit weird for the last 2 or 3 days (I think I can nearly pinpoint when he turned!).

Also asked about my mild cravings for ice cubes, gyny said it's nothing to worry about.

My sister sent my a baby journal as a surprise in the post, looking forward to filling it in!

Welcome and Congrats Poncho! Best advise I got was not to worry (I know easier said than done) but what your baba needs is positive vibes :) like the other ladies said call your GP if you're worried it's what they're there for! Best of luck x

So I made a complaint yest about the very rude Doc we got for our scan last week and the hospital called me back and were very apologetic which was nice, apparently we weren't the only ones to complain about him! They offered us another scan next Wed instead and said their top specialist will be doing it and they know what happened last week so they're gonna give us a really good look at our baba & hopefully we'll find out what we're having finally :) I was shocked they offered another scan and over the moon :)

Congrats again Cybrd :) what a lovely name & a fine size baby ;) looking forward to hearing all about it!

Congrats on your kicks MS! I felt those bubbles from about 15 weeks but same as you everyone told me it was in my head and not the baby moving! So we just kept it to ourselves but we knew it was baba :) didn't feel any kicks till 20 weeks though! It's wonderful isn't it :) even now I get kicked to bits daily but I love it x

Thanks Tigeress! Oh I found out the gender a month ago, it's a little boy! So excited!

Glad you got an apology from the hospital, I was shocked when I read your earlier post.

Right so remember when i told you all i was contracting and i had a bath and they stopped and then kinda started again... well i turns out that my waters probably broke when i was in the bath.. and i didn't realise.. so i got a massive pain at 1.30am and 8 mins later a second and then 5 mins later a third.. so i phoned my friend and she came over to stay with the kids while we went to drogheda..
Got there at 2.30 and checked in i was 3cms and contracting every 4 mins or so.. so off down to the delivery room and got the gas.. fairly uncomfortable but copable.. so about 20 mins later feel the need to push so she tries to break my waters.. cos i had told her they weren't gone.. and when she couldn't break them decided to call the doc in to break them for me.. so he tries.. and at this stage i'm getting ready to push but i'm still only 4cms.. so i hear them say drip and speed up and i swear it was like a red rag to a bull.. i ask to get up on all fours cos my back and bum are killing me.. they help cos i'm strapped to the monitor.. baby's getting distressed doc checks me again about 5 mins later i'm up to 8 cms.. start pushing midwife tells me to keep pushing when i have to cos if not the *doctors will interfere*:pac::pac: they turn me over again and i'm fully dilated baby is nearly there but they need him out cos he's really distressed and they're going to suction him .. get the scan out and realise the waters have been gone all along.. they put the cap on his head but the midwife says right stop messing and get this baby out now... i give 3 massive pushes (massive) and he's out.. one minute from nearly crowned to out..
then the fun started... 4 docs 3 more nurses burst into the room baby is whisked off cos there was a lot of thick muconium and he'd inhaled and swallowed some:( husband's balling and i just want my legs out of the STIRRUPS... they put me in stirrups. . they gave him the all clear after an hour and he's been so placid ever since..
It was the most eventful of all my births and the quickest.. it took less then a minute for stage 3 .. and that midwife was a wonder.. only for her i've been cut and he'd have had a sore head  he did have 5 scrapes where they tried to break the waters and got his head instead...
he's asleep now while ben i shouting for his dinner and the oh is hoovering around me :D oh joys. . . :pac:
