Damn it, i'm on my way into the hospital again. >.< Spent last night having quite painful braxton hicks...at least we all thought tey were. I got quite sick at one point too and needed to vmit. Went on for 5 hours or so, then started calming down around 12.30 or so, so I tried going to bed. Was in bed for a little bit, and woke up not too long after, been in a ot of pain all night. I'm not sure if it's contractions now or not. Holles Street told me to come straight in...but it's Christmas Eve!! oh please oh please oh please don't keep me in!!

Sorry to hear it hacked- they're really good in there in the Fetal Assessment Unit- we'll be thinking of you. Hugs from both of us.

Thanks guys...they kept me in for twenty four hours obs and I just got realeased this morning.
I went in with quite strong contractions and was getting quite ill. They did an internal and hooked up to a monitor for a half hour. My cervix is ok for now, but they wanted to keep me in overnight to monitor for preterm labour. (Was having very strong regular contractions for around 15 hours! Of course they would start to calm down when I get to the hospital. Silly child)
Turns out I have another bad kidney infection. They gave me a course of Iv antibiotics, and also two courses of steroid injections to mature babies lungs in case baby does decide to come prematurely with all the kidney infections I've had. I'm also going to be referred to a Renal Specialist in Vincents. Thankfully, baby is very well...happy as larry apparently!
I can't wait for the next ten weeks to be over.

    Happy Christmas guys!!! :)

Cathy, how are you getting on at the moment? Hope you had a good day today, and illness didn't get in the way of it. Also so glad to hear your little man is being so active! Always a wonderful sign. :)

How did Christmas go for you ladies?? Couldn't eat my full dinner as all my organs have been pushed up under my rib cage (I swear to God I am huge this time around), it's the first time ever that I haven't finished a Christmas dinner!!

hacked, glad to hear you're ok, popped in on christmas eve and seen your post but couldn't work out how to post from my sisters itouch thinger (god I'm so out of touch and I'm only 22!!) hopefully babs decides to stay put to full term for you (I know, I know, you want out before that but still ;) ) Cathy, hope you're ok too. You'll be holding baby in your arms soon enough and everything you're going through now will be worth it.

I'm only about 24 weeks pregnant now but what happened was that I got a 24 hour bug 2 days before Christmas that made me quite ill. Shane was wonderful. I still have other stuff like not being able to eat much but that is from another illness...still worried about the weight. Sorry, this is soundoiing like a moan...we actually has a lovely time even if my mum, dad and brother were with his inlaws (we were kindly invited down to but am car sick). The bump is noticeable and I look pregnant. Have had a cough 8 weeks though, could do getting rid of that. Glad that you had a good time.

Edit: am back on wanting another baby as well, my pregnancy has been very tough but the love that Shane and I feel for our child is something else.

I've had the same cough for the last 12 weeks. It's horrible. Bugs are horrible, especially when you are pregnant. I've had two in recent weeks. It's a horrible time to be sick. Have you a name picked for your little man yet? I'm finding it so hard this time around to think of one :(

I have a name that was just in a line of an email I sent to one of my SIL, would love to call him after his dad but am not sure if I am being allowed. Shane is calling him Dexter as have watched the show for this pregnancy but is not easy to decide, do not want him to have a long list of names, 3 is the max. I actually had a really good friend that died 2 years ago but found out that his name is more commonly used as a girls name, do not want to hurt his widdow who is a good friend but would like to know his second name. We have the 3d scan on sat, should be cool.

Edit: I always thought that his dad was the most gorgeous baby I have ever seen.

    Thanks Adrienne :)

Cathy -- so sorry to hear about the bugs! I feel like I have a bug, so I sincerely sympathise!

Don't really remember much of christmas to be honest with you! I was really sick, and didn't get home from hosp till 11.00 or so, but my family have been wonderful taking care of me. :)
Ended up back in hospital yesterday. I don't think Doc's know whats going on with me. I think pain and contractions is being chalked down to whatever baby is doing at the moment (she doesn't like me very much!) driving me mental as it hasn't let up for days, and I'm quite ill. :o

Tell me about it! It's ok, we can make them pay for the rest of their lives. I'm looking at the worst baby names possible right now :P

Actually, I don't feel like this is a baby anymore. I feel like I have a rather large stomach that is making me more ill than I've ever felt before. I feel nothing abouta baby. Wonder how big of a shock I'll get when a little person comes out!:D

haha you two are too cute!

Cathy -- you're going to be a great mom! You've been fighting for this baby from the get go, don't doubt yourself! With that said, I have a lot of little siblings....forget the perfection. Nothing ever works out perfectly, or like you think it will. You'll be fine my dear. :)

Aw no cbyrd...hoping for a baby for you soon! Love how cooperative they all seem to be.

Went to mothercare sale today and got my pram!! Was a pretty sweet deal in the end. Endeed up going with the Graco Quattro Deluxe or something like that....had a really really good deal on it and came with everything you could imagine. I was advertised to come with a bag....but alas there was no bag. Of course I was grumpy and hormonal and in pain, so I put up a fuss about false advertising, and they gave me a really nice Graco changing bag worth 50 euro to make up for it. Nice. :P

Wohhoo :D Fair play hacked. I'm finding it really hard to pick out a double buggy, don't like the phil and teds kind where the baby is on the bottom... would love a maclaren side by side but are they suitable for a newborn and a toddler? and some of the tandems are just tooooo long :( Would love to be able to afford a city mini double but alas it is not the case lol...

  • Registered Users Posts: 812 ✭✭✭hacked

lol wolfpawnat...I get it from the mother. And scarily enough...I was scarier than her today!! But no, delgihted with it, as changing bags are so expensive I wouldn't have been able to justify buying one. Check the buggy out actually...it's a pretty good offer at the moment. It comes with everything a buggy could need including the car sear for 249 euro (reduced from 400). Only thing it didn't come with was a rain cover which I bought seperately from the mothercare range. All in all 290 euro.
My mum was mad about the extra's. There's a little compartment by the handle for keys and purse, two cup holders and a little digital clock that also told you the temperature. Not the reason I got, but I think the reason my mum wanted it. hehe

Adrienne...was thinking of you today actually. Had a quick look at the double buggy;s (spent over an hour waiting for the mother...), but didn't really see too many. I can't be certain, but I'm fairly sure I HAVE seen side by side's suitbale for infancy. I would pop in in the sales, was surprised at how much was being knocked off!

I was in Mothercare in Jervis today picking up Addison's photographs so had a quick look myself and didn't see anything I fancied. Saw a lovely side by side in Smyths for €199 but not sure if it's suitable for newborn, will have to have a look online at it. Is the one you got the lime green and brown one? Cos if so it's gorgeous and was one of my favourites as a travel system last year with Addison before I got the Neonato!

  • Registered Users Posts: 812 ✭✭✭hacked

I have to say, I know they are teh same prams, but I really hate Smyths! Their display models are always crummy and put me in a bad mood.

Give it a look online, there seems to be more out there than the stores are carrying. You should be able to find what you are looking for!

I'm not sure if the pram I got is the newer model from last years, it might be. It's brown and beige. It's quite nice...a little heavy, but folds down surprisingly compact for the bulk of it. I liked the Graco's as it means I can do a food shop on my own with the nice big baskets they seem to have.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,862 ✭✭✭✭January

I think it's cos they have them all chained together so closely so you can't test drive em like you can in mothercare lol!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 812 ✭✭✭hacked

Nah, even unchained they are just worn out and crummy. I hated Graco's because of the ones I tried in Smyths...I changed my mind when I had a look at them in mothercare. They seemed like completely different buggys!

hacked, they do seem shoddy compared to the ones in mothercare I have to agree. Mothercare have some great deals on at the moment. Travel cots for €50 etc... too bad I already have two of them!!
