    Hello there... modal verb lovers

    should one partner buy an apartment and the other pays rent to the owner partner...

    Would the renting partner have rights on the apartment should the partnership dissolve?

    and if so, would a rent book nullify those rights ... ?

    should one hear rumors of a 3 year rule, would said rumors be true ?

    Not a lot of rights. AFAIK the 3 year thing is in the UK.

    Suggestion: draw up an agreement.

    Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware. You can't enter an agreement and then, several years later, pretend that the agreement was different.

    If it was paying for a mortgage a direct financial contribution would give the other partner an equitable interest in the property.

    In this case however its as if one couple was subletting to the other
