was online this morning looking at a few bets.
saw the live betting on the cricket.

i thought i spotted some value.
the aussies were way ahead and needed only about 15 more runs to win

the bet was advertised as a question :

    2nd wicket caught ?
    yes or no

i bet that no it would not be caught.
    and it wasnt caught.

    so i should win ?

well they voided the bet because the aussies didnt lose a 2nd wicket.
of course i knew that with so few runs needed that this was very possible.
and thats where i saw the value because i could win this way or i could also win if the second wicket was taken in another way

    any opinions

thats void as there was nothing to bet on...
what i mean is that the wicket didnt fall therfore the event didnt happen.

    yes i know this
but its the way the bet was phrased
it could be argued that i was correct
ie the 2nd wicket was not caught
    thats my arguement

but there was no 2nd wicket.
thats like betting on man u to win and if the game gets called off claim they didnt lose.
the reason i know is the same(nearly) thing happened to me before.

You were betting on "the second wicket to be not caught"
This is not the same as "not catching a second wicket"

Its a sutle difference, but it affects the odds offered, if you wanted the seconded situation, the odds woud suffer. I think prendys example of a game getting called off isn't really the same (I understand its only a example).
A closer one might be the difference between "Man U to win", and "Man U not to lose",
its clearer here that they are not the same
