I have to do a specific value chain for a company. How should I go about doing it? Thanks!

I assume that you've seen this diagram before. Bascially you have primary & secondary activities (or Primary & Support). What you need to do is assess each part of the company based on these headings, how well said company does this, details of how they do it yada yada yada.

Having a better value chain than that of your competitors allows you to gain a competitive advantage. That's what it's about at the end of the day.

If you need a good book to reference you should look to Hill & Jones - Strategic Management - An Integrated Approach or DeWit & Meyer - Strategy - Process, Content, Context
