    Hi,

This area has probably been covered in this forum but I can't find anything that relates to my questions, so here goes....

I want to trademark a logo for my company..

    1) How/Where do I find out if a similar logo hasn't already been TM'd by someone else? I don't want to get sued for standing on someone else's toes.

    2) If I TM my logo in Ireland, does this offer global protection?

    3) Can anyone recommend a solicitor in Kildare/Newbridge/Naas that does this type of work?

    Thanks

You can also apply through OHIM (Office for Harmonisation of the Internal Market) for a Community Trademark that would protect your mark across the EU

    Details here: http://oami.europa.eu/

the form is also available on the irish patent office website

what you're really looking for is not a solicitor but a trademark agent

You can find the specialist firms that do this work (none in Kildare, unfortunately) here: http://aptma.ie/firms.htm

A trade mark agent can also help you with searching for a logo (or "device") which is more than a simple word trade mark, as this is not possible on the Patents Office site.
