    good to hear it :)

And if you don't want to lose any of your data you should make regular backups of that "%appdata%\cabbage" directory. It stores everything related to the program.

Or if you're installing it on a new computer you can just copy that directory in and it'll be exactly the same as the old one :)

    Will do mate.

    Cheers,
    M

If you go to the vodafone website, on the page where you write the text you'll see it tells you how many messages you have left. Cabbage takes that number, then sends the message and if it succeeds it subtracts 1 from it and prints it

I thought something like that, but it doesn't correspond.
    Sam Vimes wrote:
Is the figure you're getting consistent, as in does it decrease by 1 each time you send a message or does it stay at 85?

    And are the messages sending?

It decreases, and messages are sending.
    Sam Vimes wrote:
What do you get when you click more->extras->Get number of messages left (or whatever it says :P). I'm assuming this is the desktop version right?

I'm checking later, when my mobile it charged. And it's the mobile version, not the desktop one. :)

If it goes down by one each time that's very odd. Go to this page, fill in your info and tell me how many messages it says you have left:
    http://cabbagetexter.com/testcheckmessages.htm

And on the phone press options->accounts->options->edit and make sure the phone number and password are for the right account

If you press options->accounts->options->edit server is it set to http://cabbagetexter.com/send.php ?

Done, it says "85", which is not true. I'm afraid it's Vodafone's fault... It was working in the past, I'm sure of this. Anyway, not a big deal, don't get mad after it. Maybe I can have a look myself at the code and try to see what's wrong, it would be a nice Java exercise (at least it would serve a better purpose than just writing "Hello World" ;)).

Would you mind pm'ing me your login details so I can take a look myself? If there's something wrong with the code I'd like to fix it. You can (and should) change your password afterwards

edit: or you could change it to something now, give me that one and change it back to the one your normally use afterwards

Nevermind, I just discovered I'm a complete idiot... I was looking at a number and I thought it was the amount of messages LEFT, when instead it's the amount of messages SENT. Your value is correct, my brain needs to be replaced. Sorry about that.

I give myself the prize "idiot of the day", please clap loudly during the ceremony. :D

I thought it might be something like that :D

I fell for it myself a second ago tbh. I assume it's one the main page where it says "x / 300 webtexts sent". I saw 0 / 300 and thought "wtf, I haven't sent any, why do I have 0 left?" :D

Sorry, you arrived late, you can only get the silver medal. :p

Hi. My cabbage hasn't been working for the last week or so.. When I'm sending I get "could not connect to server" I haven' changed phone or settings etc. (my fishtext is still working).. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps I need to upgrade to a newer version of cabbage? (I have the current one about a year or more)

I've had a similar problem recently and was helped out by somebody, can't remember who though !!! Then I had the exact same problem as you yesterday and used the same advice to resolve it & it worked ... try logging into your mobile account directly via the web page and then logging out again ... my problem (with Meteor) was that a level of security was there that the sign on was trying to go through that cabbage couldn't handle ...

It's looking like meteor might have blocked my website. Can you go to options->accounts->options->edit server and change it to http://powermyphone.com/cabbage/send.php and see if that makes a difference?

If they keep this up I'm porting so quick it will make my head spin.
    New settings work fine.

Sorry but I dont see where that is...

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,611 ✭✭✭✭Sam Vimes

They're options on the program on the phone. When you're on the texting screen press options (it might say "More" if you have a sony ericsson), then you should see an option called "Accounts"...etc

Ah right. Firstly make sure you have the latest version:
    http://cabbagetexter.com/Cabbage_Setup_1.95.9.exe

then click more->configuration and untick "Send messages via intermediate server"

    Firstly download the latest version:
    http://cabbagetexter.com/mobile/Cabbage_Mobile_1.71.jar
    1. What happens when you press options->Check for updates
    2. Are you sure you spelled http://powermyphone.com/cabbage/send.php correctly?
    3. What type of phone do you have?

You can do that yes, it doesnt matter what sim is in the phone. You just set up the account in cabbage, enter the mobile number, and the password.

The only thing is you will have to make a chargeable transaction at least every 6 months. Example ring someone for 1 second and hang up.
