It could be - remember dsl bb is a contended product and you share you connection with other users. Do you ever get faster download speeds than this?

    What are your line stats?

Download speed should be double that. Upload is about right.

I have a 2Meg line, although you wouldn't think so judging by these speeds.Ongoing problem for the past 5 months or so with Eircom who of course keep telling me there isn't:mad:Tuam county Galway.

    Hey everyone

If you want us to give you all a hand you will have to give us more information, then you post all those details here

First always make sure you are not connected to an extension socket and that you are not using an extension cable. When you run test make sure all phones are disconnected. Then get

    Line rate
    Noise Margin
    Attenuation

    Ping a site
    Tracert a site

this is the least you should be providing

You should also make sure that nothing else is downloading in the background,
Say what sort of speeds you get over a number of readings over the course of a day and if you are using a wireless modem/router.

It is also worth checking to see what speeds you are syncing at.

    True!

And the Line rate will give you the sync speed so that's covered

Hope that helps. As you can see despite eircom telling me all is well it clearly isn't.I've had engineers out to my home to check the line which was found to be in working order.Incidentally one of the engineers informed me that there was/is a problem with the local exchange something eircom denies.Nearly 5 months toing and froing between customer complaints and support to which one can see the results. And its not just me apparently my neighbour has the same problems constant disconnects and dial up speeds.

P.S. also disconnected phone line before running these tests. And made sure that nothing was downloading in the background, although at these speeds that would be fairly optimistic:rolleyes: What really burns me about all of this is Eircom keep billing me for a 2 Meg line:mad:

Well there appears to be nothing wrong with your line - you are syncing at the right speed and the attenuation figure is excellent (lots of people would die for that figure!) Is it possible to establish the Snr figure which might give a clue - can you tell us what exchange you are on and others on the exchange might be able to tell us what their current experience is? Is your speed always that slow - does it vary say at off peak times.

Thanks for the reply i really appreciate it.It goes through the floor at peak times.Usually around 1700 to 2300 and than perhaps it will resemble a 2meg line, although this can be much later at the weekends.I suspect that they have gone well over the contention ratio.5 or so months ago i never had a single problem and ive had this package for well over 4 years now.Mind you as can be seen here, its not much better even after midnight.
