UK Post Office launches broadband services
    Published: Monday 15 October 2007 | 03:56 PMCET

The UK's Post Office has launched broadband services, to add to its existing range of home telephony services. In May the company already announced a deal with BT Wholesale for network access. The standalone broadband service starts at GBP 9.95 per month for up to 8 Mbps, with unlimited downloads subject to a fair use policy and a free modem. For GBP 15.95 per month, users also get a wireless router and a security suite with parental controls. The bundled broadband and telephony offer starts at GBP 21.95 per month and adds to the broadband service line rental and free evening and weekend calls to fixed lines. The premium package for GBP 25.95 includes the broadband service, line rental, free off-peak calls and the wireless router. Calls outside the package cost GBP 0.03 per minute to fixed lines and GBP 0.05-0.13 per minute to mobiles, depending on the time of day.

I remember the old days when the phone people were part of the Post Office. Logical originally as the P.O. owned the Telegraph Circuits, later adapted for voice. Internet is just Telegraph but faster. They even had Spam on the Telegraph in Victorian times, though no-one ever made a virus or trojan :)
