    yes,

    1. Looking to get a better deal on the mortage. Better Loan To Value ratio means lower risk for the bank and lower rate for you.
    2. Splitting up partnership, figuring out who is due what.
    3. Looking to release equity from a home, if value has built up a person may want to know how much is available even if they don't intend using it.
    4. Pure worry with all the discussion about how much house prices are falling they might want to know by how much.

    I'm sure there's loads more... why do you ask
