Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,
A guy in my local says that 15 black players have played at full international level for Ireland, I can only think of 7, (but I'm certainly not an expert).
So my question is, is the guy in the pub incorrect or correct? by the way he didn't name any of the players.

There's also that one about black Irishmen who've played in Wembley... everyone always forgets Phil Lynott!

Or Terry Phelan, of course :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 501 ✭✭✭LOTTOWINNER

Terry Phelan , Curtis flemming ,Steven Reid, Phil Babb, Clinton Morisson, Paul (GOD) McGrath and Chris Heuton (spelling?)

That's all I can get, if this is a joke question, could someone tell me the punch-line.

    Jon Goodman was black:eek::D

I can't think of any more...Did Caleb Folan ever get a cap? I don't think so? - pulled out injured of 2 recent squads

    I'm very confused here.

Did an English bloke called Goodman get a cap for Ireland?

    And was it this man?

    Or someone else?

No, I thought that's who you were thinking of alright!:D

    It was this guy: http://www.viewimages.com/Search.aspx?mid=1034277&epmid=2&partner=Google

Are they not the same person?

They look kinda similar, don't they. Or am I a bit mental?

    Are they brothers at least?

Ye, its his 'brother from another mother'.....they do look eerily similiar though. Sure if they had the same haircut you couldn't tell them apart.

This is a joke , it is Black irish players that played at Lansdown road. The last one is Phil Lynott

    Phil Lynott died in 1986

    Kwame Ampadu

Kwame "Patrick" Ampadu only got U21 caps, never a full cap.

    I'm dubious about this.

The first black full Irish international was Chris Hughton. I can't think of 14 more full internationals of african descent since Hughton.

    1. Hughton
    2. Paul McGrath
    3. Phil Babb
    4. Terry Phelan
    5. Curtis flemming
    6. Steven Reid
    7. Clinton Morisson
    8. Joe O'Cearuill

Thats it as far as I can make out. Lots of U21 players (Liam George for instance) never made it to the full team.

Well if that's the case can we include Kinglsey Black who played there for Northern Ireland in 1993?

Did Paul Osam ever get a cap?

Also did Phil Lynott ever actually play in Lansdown?

If its a trick question the only thing I can see is, he never mentions soccer. so could it be all sports ?

I was asked this question in a pub last year but it was name 7, of which I named the first 7 on the list above although Terry Phelan took me about an hour to think of. I think Stephen Kelly can be added to the list so we have had 9 Full Irish black Internationals, Wont be the case in about 20 years when we have a full team of team of them, then we might win something!
