Jesus, the atmosphere for the anthems was unreal. You could barely hear God Save the Queen over the hissing and booing from the Russian crowd. There is a strangely militant atmosphere surrounding the whole match in my opinion. Sky said earlier that there are something like 15,000 troops policing the matchday, only 4,500 English fans are there!

This could be a tasty affair.

I would've had Owen on the bench in the first half and played Crouch instead. I'm sick of McClaren always playing Owen from the start regardless of what condition he's in.

BBC - If the score stays the same - and it's all Russia at the moment - it means qualification is no longer in England's hands. Russia would edge out England if they win their last two games against Israel and (away) and Andorra (away)

yup essentially Russia would have to beat Israel in Isreal to oust england from qualification. although of course they also play Andorra while England would have to beat table topping Croatia
