I am familiar with 'Before you know it " and a tiny BBC site, both assist , is there any others?. Pronunciation is very important given the vast diifferenes not just between Polish and English but between Polish and Latin languages.

My first and long time German teacher at secondary school had I later realised very poor pronunciation and I therefore learned bad phonetics from the beginning...very hard to later undo....determined not to let that happen again!

For very basic pronunciation of the alphabet and some words, the OP of this thread has some very helpful YouTube vids.

Thansk Spurious, it's a good link. Incidentally how if coffee pronounced in Polish? Is it Kafe? Have a really warm relationship with a few Polish waitresses and would love to order Coffee in Polish....they know I'm learning Polish and we laugh a lot!

I live in Poland teaching english, anywho, theres this tv ad for Black Bean Coffee or something and the girls like "Chchialabys wejscie na.....kawe" and he is like no. muahahah. It means would you like to come inside for a coffee, but he says no because supposedly this coffee is much better than her offer, I doubt that but anyway.

Im no expert but as I live in Poland I can tell you what I say

Poprosze kawe bez mlekom. Coffee without milk.
    or

    Chchialbym kawe .... or something.

Depends how exactly you would like to say it I guess.

The best way of getting familiar with pronunciation is listening, listening and once again listening. A few websites where you can listen to Polish content:
Polskie Radio (Polish Radio) - podcasts
    http://www.polskieradio.pl/podcasting/
    ITVP - Polish TV online
    http://www.itvp.pl/
Polskie Podcasty - directory of podcasts in Polish
    http://www.polskiepodcasty.pl/
Gość Radia Zet - short interviews with Polish politicians - that may sound boring but the good thing about it is that most of the audio files goes along with transcription - essential for learning how to read & write.

There's also a good, free, online vocabulary. The website is in Polish, but all you need to do is just type a word you want to translate. It's very handy for both sides :-)

    Ling.pl

Here's another Polish online translator I found. It seems to be able to do sentences as well.

    Poltran.com

A few more helpful sites that I've encountered while surfing around:

    http://www.polish-dictionary.com/
    http://onestoppolish.com/online-polish-translation.htm
http://onestoppolish.com/useful_polish_phrases.htm (This one has audio files demonstrati9ng the pronunciation of the phrases.)

    Hey Filan!

Check out "Colloquial Polish - The Complete Course for Beginners" by Boleslaw W. Mazur. You can get it in language book shops, definitely in one in Dublin - which is called "Modern Languages"; it's on Westland Row (street)

    good luck

    k.

This is a useful course, though probably of most value in conjunction with actual lessons.
