    This will probably only apply to the Wood, Grove, Court and Park as they have back gardens for this purpose. While space in some of our houses becomes short as we grow (especially if you're in a two bed 'starter' home) I see some people are looking into putting an extra room down the back of the garden.

    I know this has been mentioned in the Grove/Park AGM thread but I think it would be useful if there is a group effort of diggin out info. As you are aware there are 3-4 management companies involved in these areas, so there is a potential to have 3-4 different stipulations in the documents about this. It is more than likely it says the same but would need it checked for clarity. So anyone with access to the said documents your help is appreciated.

    So the question is:

    What does it say in the lease/contact document when you buy your house about building permenant or temporary buildings in your back/side gardens?

    P.S. I'll try chasing up the Wood's version with my solicitor over the next few days.

    As a residents of the Woods, I will defer to Astrofluff on the matter of how our lease deals with this matter. However, having read said document on a number of occasions, I have to say that I do not recall anything specific about buildings in the gardens (but I do stand to be corrected). What I do recall is the clause in the lease that states that the Leasee cannot (without prior written permission of the Mgt Co.) makes alterations in or to the property. This may cover the issue at hand. As ridiculous as it may sound, that is as specific as the clause is and therefore, by definition, might preclude any resident (without prior written permission of the Mgt Co.) from converting their attic or painting their kitchen or hanging a picture or anything else that might be defined as an 'alteration' (The act of making something different) in or to the property.
