Apache stops responding when using phpmyadmin

I was messing around this evening with a site I developed locally and I was inserting some records manually into the table using phpmyadmin. The first record went in fine, but each one after that caused a 'waiting for localhost...' message in my browser and Apache rocketing to 99% usage. It seems to be something peculiar…

I was messing around this evening with a site I developed locally and I was inserting some records manually into the table using phpmyadmin. The first record went in fine, but each one after that caused a 'waiting for localhost...' message in my browser and Apache rocketing to 99% usage. It seems to be something peculiar with phpmyadmin and this particular insert statement, but I can't imagine what. I eventually had to restart my machine.

Anybody encountered anything similar with a local Apache and phpmyadmin?
