Hello there just wondering if there is anyone in the Dublin or Cork area who would like to start a comedy improv/sketch group? Improv is a great way to open up your creativity and be more spontaneous.

No Drama Theatre's "Laughalot Improv" bring their unique comedy improv show to the Duke Pub this Thursday 1st March at 9pm!

"Experience something new and fresh in Irish comedy! I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed" - Amanda Whitehead, Culch.ie

After an extended holiday, Dublin's unique Comedy Improv group return to the usual haunt to spread their unscripted, unrehearsed, comedy improv over Dublin like a 2 year spreads chocolate all over their face!

Based on suggestions from the audience, previous shows saw us skiiing in the Sahara, recreating Inglorious Basterds with jam and engaging in a custody battle for a boy who turned into a balloon!

So get your rears to the Duke at 9pm on Thursday 1st! Entry only €5!

No Drama Theatre were formed here on boards.ie!

Free Preview at The Bankers Bar & Comedy Club, 16 Trinity Street, Dublin 2. Ph: 01 6793697 of a "new" comedy show by Barry Mack!

Barry Mack was raised by wolves, Not real ones, pantomime wolves. During the off season they would holiday in the mountains and during the bus...y season, he would watch from the side as they scared young children, night after night.
It was from this that he developed a taste for comedy and has been travelling throughout Ireland plying his trade and tracking buffalo Hunky dory’s for some time now. With his distinct comedy stylings he has been noted as one to watch (Mostly by farmers who fear he may make off with their livestock). He is currently making a name for himself out of pasta shells, glitter and sticky back plastic.

Barry Mack has opened for acts as diverse as Brendan Burns(aust) craig Hill (Scotland) Karl Spain(Ireland) and Ardal O' Hanlon to name but a few

He was semi finalist in amused moose laugh off and

Finalist in both comedy dublin competition and

    the comedy ireland competition

Here is what some other comedians are saying about him:

    "individualistic" Kevin McAleer

    "original" Karl Spain

"looks and sounds like graham linehan" Michael Redmond aka father stone

"you dropped your cigarette" Jimmy Carr

"Barry Mack is a young Irish stand-up who is rapidly building an impressive reputation with bricks of deadpan whimsy"

    Hotpress.com

"This talented craftsman tears up the stage with his sharp wit and energy. Watch this space for more on this up and coming star of tomorrow

Whelanslive proudly present two nights with the hilarious

    Greg Proops

Sunday 17th June, main venue - Live Stand-up. Tickets €17.50

Tuesday 19th June, upstairs at Whelan’s – a live recording of the hit podcast Smartest Man In The World. Tickets €10.00

All tickets available to buy online at www.wavtickets.ie or call the WAV Box Office [Lo-call 1890 200 078]

Greg Proops is a very, very funny man. The star of Whose Line Is It Anyway, Mock the Week and The Bigger Picture with Graham Norton arrives in Dublin this June for two very different Whelan’s shows – a stand up show on Sunday June 17th promising his unpredictable meld of highbrow, lowbrow and the swear words that bind the two together while Tuesday 19th June will be a live recording of his world-famous Smartest Man In The World podcast.

Greg is widely regarded as a master comic who's performed improv, sketch and stand-up with the very best of them. His hit podcast, The Smartest Man in the World, has been recorded live everywhere from Australia to the Caribbean to Montreal and we are very excited & proud to add Dublin to that list.

Greg Proops is The Smartest Man In The World

It’s just Proops and you. There’s no fan fare. Proops takes center stage at small table and chair setup with a single microphone. Then he’s off. An hour of great conversation that flies by at a break neck clip. He crams the feeling of a great two-way conversation into the lecture-style format of a one-way conversation.

Part professorial, part crazed comedian, Proops forms the show around his talent and passions. The show flows like a love letter to tangents. The Proopcast has been to Australia, New Zealand, Montreal, London, Edinburgh, Austin, Cleveland, San Francisco and off the coast of St. Martin in the Caribbean all in one year. Now you must fall.

Be there and experience joy for once in your life

    Greg Proops Fun Fact Bonanza!

Here are a few fun trivia facts about Mr Proops
    • 'Make-up-jokes' Greg will be appearing on the new ABC comedy series “Trust Us With Your Life.”
    • Greg brazenly smokes dope on TV on The Green Room with Paul Provenza on Showtime.
    • 'Anchor' Greg hosts the weekly webcast Odd News on Yahoo. http://oddnews.yahoo.com
    • The Proopdog is best known for his unpredictable appearances on Whose Line is it Anyway? Both US and UK.
    • Mr. Proops is a frequent guest of Chelsea Lately on E!

“ONE OF THE CIRCUIT'S MOST BRILLIANT COMEDIANS” - The Observer

Francesca is a regular face on TV and is well-known for starring in five series of Grange Hill and a much-loved appearance on The Frank Skinner Show. Ricky Gervais is a big supporter of her work and wrote a starring role especially for her in Extras where she starred opposite actress Kate Winslet.

She is currently working on a TV comedy series with Australian Comedian Adam Hills, is a regular newspaper reviewer on BBC News 24 TV, BBC Radio 4 and 5Live, delivers motivational speeches across the globe and runs comedy workshops for mixed ability performers and writers in the UK and overseas.

Not one to shy away from the important issues, in 2008 Francesca made global headlines when she became the first Olympic Torch-Bearer to pull out of the London relay in protest against China’s treatment of Tibet. This year, she took on Michael Portillo over the government’s welfare reforms live on BBC1’s This Week. Her appearance sparked huge public interest and the programme’s producers were bowled over by the amount of positive feedback – far more than any of their previous shows had ever received.

“You leave the show feeling like you’ve injected endorphins into your veins as well as having a greater appreciation for your life and the body that gives it to you. A must see.” - Herald Sun (Australia)

    * Oh yeah, she has mild cerebral palsy but she much prefers the word ‘wobbly’.

Barking dogs, squishing soggy sneakers, Jets roaring, spine tingling scratches from a chalkboard, radio noises, guitars screaming, cell phones, and so much more! Noises, every noise you can imagine but is it real or the vocal cords of Michael Winslow? He spent more time in the principal's office than in class.

Michael was born September 6, 1958 to Robert and Verdie Winslow, on Fairchild Air force Base with never a dull moment. The youngest of six brothers, his mom tells stories about when he was young he would imitate the airplanes, jet engines, basically anything that made a noise he copied with sounds that came out of his mouth. “Growing up in the Air Force Base made it difficult to have friends, so I created imaginary friends, dogs, cats, trucks, anything that would keep me occupied for the moment” says Michael.

After he graduated High School and a short-lived college sojourn, Michael had his first professional performance at a club/theatre in Boulder, Colorado named Tulagi’s. This was particularly exciting for him because Jimmy Hendrix, The Doors, Tommy Bolin and other famous bands had also played there (By the way Michael does an incredible imitation on Hendrix’s guitar playing).

Opening for an act for a group called “Nova”, an Italian Rock Fusion Band, he had heard through the grapevine that this group were fans of Jimmy Hendrix, so why not portray him??. He had lots of props including his mother’s Afro wig and despite Michael being incredibly nervous before the show the audience was flabbergasted with his rendition of “Purple Haze”. The ovation and the applause from the audience was overwhelming and from that moment on he knew his calling - he wanted to be an entertainer.

Michael packed his bags and hitchhiked to Venice Beach where he would be homeless for a short time….He Auditioned for the “Gong Show” hosted by the infamous Chuck Barris and he won a whoping $516.32 that finally got him out of homelessness and allowed him to by a vehicle, that took him to Los Angeles to all the local comedy clubs. At this point in time, Bud Friedman, believed in him and featured in him in the famous Evening At The Improv

In 1984 Michael finally got his big chance - director Hugh Wilson and producer Paul Manslanski came to see him perform at Long Beach Theater where he was opening for the incomparable Count Basie & his Orchestra. Needless to say, Wilson and Manslanski were blown away! They immediately wrote him into the script of the unforgettable “Police Academy I through VII” and both film and star became an instant success. With his celebrity status now firmly established he then went to play a part in Mel Brooks “Spaceballs”. This film helped in furthering his spotlight as a unique comedian. Michael was also heard, but not seen, when he gave the voice to Stripe, the evil little creature, in another Hit Movie “Gremlins”.

He also did voice-overs for Disney and Universal Studios in such rides as “Back to the Future and Terminator” Currently you can also hear him in the Television Hits “Robo Chicken and Family Guy” and you can't miss him on those great “Geico” commercials.

Michael, a master of vocal gymnastics, can imitate over 1000 sound effects using his voice alone. Whether he is recreating the frenzy of Jimmy Hendrix playing the guitar, or the roar of a jet plane, his talent is truly remarkable and his versatility admirable and enjoyable for all ages!

Rave reviews rolling in for Francesca's current tour. She brings this amazing show to Whelan's on June 30th

"Hilarious and deeply moving... By the end of the hour, everyone is a little bit wobbly, rocking back and forth in their seats, some choking back tears at an exquisitely judged final flourish that proves she is not only one of the best performers on the circuit but also a writer of rare candour... one of the finest pieces of writing on the fringe."

“Am I giving Francesca Martinez 5/5 because she earned it through hilarity and pathos? Or am I giving it through PC wankery because she's the CP disabled comic? If you're asking then you've never seen Francesca perform. And you have no idea how close to perfection this show and this woman actually are.... a faultless stand up show. Immaculate timing... No holes, no flat spots. Near genius use of crowd participation.... Francesca holds the perfect stand-up show whilst sitting down. Her arms flail, she reigns them in, brushes her handsthrough her cropped hair. Lowers her beautiful eyes... perfect stand-up”
