    Hey guys,
Posted a while back asking about cars in the 4-6k price range. Well, after weeks of looking at cars, I think we've decided to spend more money.

So, something under 9k (MAX) really. Not too many miles and 1.2 - 1.4L would be preferable.

I'm trying to balance up the car, engine, year and mileage and it's melting my goddamn brain. I need some outside thinking here.

    All advice most appreciated.

There are hundreds of possibilities, tell us what car you were thinking, and we'll suggest an Octavia or Fabia.

:o Well, I was looking at 2003/04 Fiestas. The GF loves Golfs though. But we'd only be able to afford something like 00/01 with loads more miles.

Octavia is a bit big I'd say. What are Fabias like? Nice to drive? Reliable?

I wouldn't pay over the odds for a Golf, they're not all they're cracked up to be.

    Hows about:

    2004 Mazda 2 with 36 on the clock €7,950

2002 Honda Civic with 42 on the clock €9,500

2006 Mitsubishi Colt 3dr 25 on the clock €10,000 (seems very cheap)

We're not going to be of much help if you don't tell us what you want / need in a car apart from your budget

Cheer Colm - will check them out.

Unkle - car will get minimum use mid week (won't be used to commute). GF is ill so it's primary use will be at the weekends going up and down the country.

Hence - nothing big (above 1.4) but nothing too small either. It's gotta be comfortable for reasonable distances but it will operate as a city car for most of the time. So cheap to run.

I've never had any experience with Mazda's - decent? Have seen my uncle have problems with his mitsubishi though (although everyone knows someone I suppose).

I'd recommend any Japanese car brand bar Nissan
