I am trying to source a solution similar to the Cisco 877 box. I need to have a managed switch with VLAN capibilites and the ability to sub interface the DSL WAN interface for trunking etc.

I am not familiar with any similar non-Cisco device, but the client, for some mad reason, insists on "anything but Cisco".

    Can anyone recommend a device?

you want to "trunk" the DSL interface?

Nah, was a bit drunk posting last night.

In the setup that this guy wants, I would usually drop a switch in front of router. I usually split the switch into various VLANs and driectly connect it to one interface on the router. From here I can inter-route if needed - or not.

This guy needs all this in one DSL box. I can see that Cisco do this in the 877 but this is a non runner for "muppet head".

Does anyone know of a similar device?

Sounds like a spanner. You could look at a Juniper Netscreen-5GT ADSL (although be aware that the end-of-life has been announced for these devices) - small, cheapish (roughly the same price as an 877 at any rate) and easy to configure. Not sure off the top of my head whether they support VLANs, but you can configure multiple internal interfaces, so you could just do it that way.

I assume its a small office.

Check out the Check Point VPN-1 Edge or Safe@Office appliance.
    ADSL version.
They support VLAN's (port based or tag based), 802.1x, Wireless option, high-availability etc, etc.
