Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was raided by police in Amsterdam and the guy who ran it was arrested in Middlesborough on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and infringement of copyright law.

    :(

Oh noes!!! Someone who broke the law was caught.... how sad...

    Omg

I thought it may come back...guess not.

Torrent sites are becoming obsolete and streaming is the future anyway.
Sure with divx you can save movies after you've watched them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

DivX is class, when you watch it on a tele there's almost no difference between that and broadcast.

Most of ye won't need to be told this, but please don't link to any active torrent (or whatever) sites that give access to copyrighted material. Discussing the shutting down of OiNK on the other hand is fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,225 ✭✭✭Ciaran500

Never even heard or seen a reference to OiNK anywhere before :s

one of these sites should go to court, I think they would win, it's only links they advertise, how can that be illegal

Dammit a sad day and I had built up a decent ratio :(
Hope we won't be receiving letters in the post from the flockers

    Never heard of oink. :(

Somebody please tell me that paying €22 for a new cd in our wonderously over-priced retailers is more satisfying than stealing it online ? :p

Try searching news stories, it was shut down. It may come back but it's certainly not gone just because it's upgrading.

Perhaps the music companies should be worrying about how these albums get to OiNK in the first place.

Ick! http is largely unreliable and dodgy, find the right torrent site and its much much better.

    RIP Oink.

It was a fine site and very well run that put me in contact with a whole new range of music genres that I otherwise may never have stumbled upon.

Sorry to see it shutdown. Lets hope they don't shut down my other favourite torrent site about cats....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

Maybe if saps hadn't been selling invites on ebay and putting up wiki pages about it, drawing so much attention to the site it would have continued on unnoticed for a while longer at least.

There's also a lot of rubbish floating around in the media about oink profitting from the site by making money off the downloads. Trust them to put a spin on it and start making stuff up.
