I'm wondering if anyone knows when the current 5 Series (E60) and E class (W211) are due replacements? My dad is looking at buying a new 530d/535d or an E320 CDI and I'm fairly sure that the E60 will be replaced in mid 2008, would I be right? But I have no idea when the W211 is due. Does anyone know?

    Thanks.

The 5 series has recently had a face lift with some tweaks (including some upgrade in power in some engines) The new model afaik is not due until 2010

Are you sure? Because I remember reading in Autocar that the replacement in in 2008. And I found this link (I dont know how reliable it is) And it says the "2009" 5 series, which is American talk for the model that will be on sale in 2008.

    e34 was 1988 to 1995, e39 was 1996 to 2003, e60 began in 2004, so it would look like 2011 or so...

They only facelifted the E60 in March, and if the E30, E46(3 series) and E39(5 series) were anything to go by, there will be around 3 years from then.

So 2010 possibly summer 2010 is when we'll see a replacement on the streets.

E-Class is usually on a 7 year cycle. It was launched in 2003, had it's facelift released in end of 2006 (sharp middle on the front bumber identifies it over older models) and AFAIK the replacement is due in 2010.

I have seen various articles that are saying a new 5 series is due end of 2009...

Just found an article on CARs website saying that the W211 is getting replaced in 2009.

    http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/secret_new_car.php?page=1&sid=1125

Its REALLY annoying as I've been doing some research and drivethedeal are offering £6200 off a new E320 CDI Auto Sport with our spec (Heated Leather, Sunroof, Harmon/Kardon 6CD Stereo, Sunroof, Metallic)! I know that there would be some VAT issues and VRT would be about €24,000 but thats a good discount on that model!!

I'm pretty sure its 2010 for the BMW (or MY 2011 in the states) . Either way I'd imagine its far enough away not to effect the OP's decision

I don't think anyone really knows when the next 5 series will be launched but most speculation is pointing towards 2009.
The current model (E60) began production in Feb 2002 so 2009 would be the earliest I would expect one.
    Looks alright: http://www.autobild.de/artikel/Themen-Erlkoenige-BMW-findet-zurueck-zu-alter-Form_55735.html - a cross between the current 3 and 5s!

    ...........the W211 was launched in 2002 !

The replacement will be a 2010 model, available from September 2009!
