[REQ]42" Plasma HD Tv

Has to be a plasma HD Tv as thats what was recommended by a friend for mounting them over a fireplace.

Im buying for a friend who has little or no knowledge of these, i reckon they'd pay up to 1000 or a little over maybe for a good TV?

anyone know if Philips are good btw?

I think Dunnes are doing 25% back on tv's this weekend, up to a maximum discount of €200, if you use your clubcard.
They're always doing Philips/LG units, so you could pick up a bargain there.

(OK, maybe Pioneer are slightly better but for a premium)

Philips & LG are not great. Panasonic and Pioneer are the best but expensive premiums prices.

I have a samsung which I am quite happy with. The picture quality is great for most programmes. Samsung would be middle of the road.

Last week aldi sold a 40" (Tevion) for 850. They still had four left in Galway yesterday evening. People that bought it seemed quite happy.

Harvey Normans are selling a Neon 42" Plasma HD TV for €800, they seem to be a decent enough TV.
