    hi,

i'm just about to start doing up a house, and i was wondering what the best place to buy a roll of cat5e (or indeed cat6 if the price isn't too astronomical. it's 500' in a standard roll right? i won't even need *that* much, but i'll need a bit alright. i've already sourced cat5e patch panels on ebay, but i can't find rolls of cable except from the USA.

    any ideas?

Any electrical wholesale outlet will have a CAT5E. I think it's 305 metres a role and should cost around €80.

A role should be alot under 80€ ; 305M per Box

    Try BlackBox ( http://www.blackbox.com/index.aspx ).

    or Wood Comm : http://www.woodcomm.ie/

You best off getting a small 4-8U Rack and a 24 or 48 port patch panels as well if you going to the trouble of wiring the place it may look like over kill but you will thanks the gods later down the line....

Also leave ~1-2m slack on both ends (behind Wall-Box/plate and Patch-Panel) the KRONE brand is good a little bit more expensive but a lot nicer and easier to work with then wiring.
