British Airways Petition - Keep Travelling
BA want to ban surfboards -
It alienates surfers, and it makes no sense.
    It is a false economy.

BA have been a progressive airline when dealing with boards - but if this goes ahead - the worlds favorite airline will have worse customer service than many budget airways.

BA Are a trend setter - so other Airlines will follow suit if this happens

Please consider signing the petition - it is in all our interests

They are dead right. Check out the amount of space they take up,the amount of trouble it is to handle them on conveyor belt systems, and the compo paid out as a result of accidents.

They are making a sound commercial decision.

    No way dude!!

    Fairly bad call by BA

Boards are comparable in size and handling issues to Snowboards, Golfclubs, Fishing rods etc !!

Surf travel is a big industry - they will lose a lot of custom.

Surfing in itself is worth 1Bn per annum worldside.

    What compo claims?

Incorrect- most of the items listed can be loaded normally on conveyor belts at airports-surfboards require special handling

Correct-surfing travel etc is worth a lot of money-not to the airlines however.

Compo claims for damaged/mislaid/lost surf equipment on airlines runs into millions.

Sorry dude, from an airlines point of view its just too much hassle.

    SURFS up!!!:D

Indeed, I agree it is alot of hassle for airlines and handling agents

BA are not the only airline in the world either, btw.

    Surfers buy tickets to fly

    Carriage at your own risk

Thanks to everyone who has already signed.

Please spread the word about this to all your surfing and non-surfing mates - spread the word to other forums

Today Surfboards, tomorrow musical instruments - Skis - Cowbells - or who knows what else.

The more people who sign, the better a chance we have to change this decision.
