Hi everyone. I'm cosidering buying a motorcycle (would be a new rider), and I'd like to get a general idea of how much I'd be paying for insurance.

I'm 24 man, on a 2nd provisional (or learner permit or whatever the F'#@ it is now), Category A, with no claims, convictions points or anything like that on my license (hold both A and B on the same license)

I would be looking to spend about €2000, prefereably less if I can, on a second hand bike, 250cc.

How much, approximately, would be out for insurance and what kind of things should I be looking for when bike shopping - are all 250ccs relatively similar insurance wise? I would be thinking of either TPFT or TPO insurance.

How much are you all paying for your insurance?

Also, does anyone know any good 2nd hand bike shops in the Midlands?

Unfortunately it varies so much for a whole range of factors, the only real way to know is to get quotes. Try Axa, Adelaide and Quinn. Carole Nash may or may not quote you as you are under 25 and appear to have no no-claims bonus, but ring them anyway.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.
