Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Saturday, 27 October 2007
    Birmingham v Wigan, 15:00 Birminghan
Chelsea v Man City, 15:00 Draw
Man Utd v Middlesbrough, 15:00 Man Utd
Portsmouth v West Ham, 17:15 Pompey
    Reading v Newcastle, 15:00 Newcastle
    Sunderland v Fulham, 15:00 Sunderland

    Sunday, 28 October 2007
Bolton v Aston Villa, 13:30 Villa
    Derby v Everton, 14:00 Everton
    Liverpool v Arsenal, 16:00 Draw
    Tottenham v Blackburn, 15:00 Blackburn

Major weekend for the title aspirations of Liverpool. A win will bring them back into it, a loss will set them even farther back while a draw will leave it as it were. Having said that, it's the type of game 'Pool would win coming off the back of a bad Champions league performance and Arsenal winning 7-0. Should be an entertaining match.

Elsewhere managerless Tottenham welcome a flying Blackburn and it's difficult to see them take more than a point out of it. Gary Megson starts his term at home to Villa with the unenviable task of hauling Bolton out of the drop zone. Pick of the Saturday matches is Chelsea V Citeh, interesting to see how this fares out.

Good weekend for matches! Chelsea/City should be definitely worth a watch. Arsenal/Liverpool also. And on seperate days, so can watch both :)

What odds are the bookies giving on Hyppia scoring a goal?

So, is it must win for Liverpool yet to not be out of the title race by October? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,480 ✭✭✭✭cson

In terms of the two big prizes imo its a pivotal moment in Liverpools season, they're clinging onto the Champions League only just and a defeat on Sunday would make an assault on the Premiership extremely difficult. Not improbably difficult though. Theres a long way to go yet ;)

Actually it's a pivotal moment in Arsenals season to a certain extent too imo, two massive games in the next 2 weeks. It'll show whether the young pretenders mean business or not this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

It's a huge moment for everybody. Liverpool really need a win to start clawing back on Arsenal. Arsenal just need a draw to keep it as is. The following week, the same situation occurs, although United can deal with a draw a little better considering their current form.

IMO, I'm rooting for Liverpool this weekend. It's time to stop liking Arsenal and consider them a threat :) G'wan the pool!

I'm of the same opinion as yourself. Can't believe I want Liverpool to win! (Where's the puking smilie?! :D )

Arsenal are building momentum and are finding it easy to cut teams apart at the moment. A win for Liverpool and United (or only 1 point gained from the 2 games) would put a temporary halt on their progress and may affect their confidence.

    C'mon Liverpool!

Only one game for me this weekend. Can anyone guess which it is?! Thankfully Foxtel here in Oz have it as their main game tomorrow so I'll get to see it live.

I'm hoping for a draw, and obviously it'd be great to nick a win at the Bridge. However there's always a chance we could get thumped and I'll have to go sheepishly back into my little hole.

I do think that Chelsea are gona beat City, I might even say comfortably. I think City have the quality to beat all the teams bar the top 4, but against the top 4, I just don't think they are good enough. I expect City's defense to get torn a new one against Chelsea.

Foxtel are showing all the games this season. Just press the red button... Reading v Newcastle ftw!

Except when we beat United of course! ;)

Unfortunately my apartment block isn't allowed Foxtel and the local boozer only shows the main game. As for Reading v Newcastle, I don't think I could stomach 90 minutes of Nicky Shorey! He'll concede 2, then score, then concede two more before finishing with an assist.

    Of course :)

That said, as you probably remember United controlled the game, and if there was a striker on the pitch, could have scored 3 or 4. Also it was a fluky goal :P
That said, I think City have gotten better since then, still think Chelsea will be too much for them.

Ah excuses. Gotta love them. Games are won on goals, flukey or not. United couldn't do it and we've parked the team coach in front of Chelsea before. No reason why we can't do it again. If Dunney and Micah are up for it we won't concede.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

I'm not making excuses, City deserved to win that game, the point is about Chelsea. I really do see Chelsea ripping them apart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

The point IS......United had a striker on the pitch, a 30 million striker at that :) where were the 3 or 4 goals?

Based on what? Chelsea have scored three goals in their last three Premiership games (against Middlebrough, Bolton and Fulham) and City have been playing well. Ok we may lose but I fail to see how we would get destroyed, especially considering the kind of football we've been playing.

Oh and JT and Cashley are injured too.

Hardly! Considering the amount of bickering going on in the Liverpool thread between both camps at the moment.

    My Prediction:
    ALL Home Wins

Was gonna give Everton the win but they might be stretched at the back after the 2 red cards last week.

One change for City today - Gorgeous Georgios Samaras in for the unwell Mpenza. Hope he has a stormer. No SWP in the squad for Chelsea and no Malouda either. With Terry and Cashley also out I'm growing more optimistic the closer we get to kick off. Time to hit the boozer!

Rooney takes the close range free kick, weird. Woulda thought Tevez or Hargreaves or Anderson woulda hit that.
