a mate of mine walked out of ratatouille, he said it was "boring", "nothing happens", it "wasn't funny", the animation was "****e" and that it was a "poor man's Finding Nemo"..

have no idea why, although to be honest he's the kind who doesnt like a movie if there's no explosions in it...

Never walked out of a film but should have:

    Guest House Paradiso
    Men in Black II

you me and dupree. nauseatingly cringingly bad!!

Was close to walking out on Waterworld. Fair enough, sometimes people go into a film expecting something else and walk out, but in general I don't understand it.
Like people walking out on Superman Returns. Granted, not the best film, and it did drag out a bit, but what the hell did people expect when you go to a Superman film? It's going to be about Superman, shock horror! Or someone mentioned SPiderman 3, some say it was the worst of the trillogy, fair enough, but come on... it's Spiderman. You either like Spiderman or you don't. If you don't like Spiderman, and paid to go to see one, then you have no right to complain about it as you didn't like that type of film to begin with.
Transformers is another one, people walked out on it, only 20 minutes in. Stupid stupid people, what the hell were they expecting?

lord of the rings 3, and some piece of **** about a guy on an island who won the lottery... or had to pretend he won the lotter.

there was some scene where he was riding a motorbike down the island naked I think.. we all left soon after.

That second one sounds like it could be "Waking Ned".

Generally I try to sit out all films but the last one I can think of where I desperately wanted to leave was POTC3. What a load of crap. Sat it out though because the g/f was enjoying it.

Almost left snakes on a plane. Was enjoying the film but the people sitting just up from us were as annoying as hell. An auld wan and a bunch of what looked like grandkids - anytime something happened she'd say something like "Oh god, that poor fella is dead next ... the snakes will aet him". The g/f was sitting closer to tem and said there was an awful smell of piss off the old one too :D

Had to laugh when I was at Apocalypto though, two couple sat behind us. Film started, next we hear - "For F*ck sake, its subtitled !", then they get up and leave.

I'd say the most people I saw leave in a single sitting was at "Jebus Takes a kickin'". I think some people just didnt know what to expect from it.

the answer to this is YES, but only if you leave within the first 15 minutes!

i have to say i am a huge christian bale fan but i almost walked out of harsh times, a few redemming qualities but it was WAY too long!

I walked out of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. I was too scared! I suck at horror movies; they scare me far too much, or at least in the cinema.

I’ve also walked out of a few other films for different reasons: I went to see Pearl Harbour for a second time (I was on a ferry to France and there was nothing else to do, okay?!?) and I left after the attack on Pearl Harbour itself. The rest of the film is too unbearable.
I left the Return of the King a little early the second and third times I saw it. Brilliant as it may be, the end is a bit much for repeat viewings.
I walked out of Cold Mountain only a few minutes in; not that I really disliked it at that stage, but the showing of the Return of the King seemed way more appealing.

I have never walked out of a movie purely due to it being a bad film. I have never even been tempted, even in some of my most painful cinema trips.

Yeah, it sure kicked my ass - in a bad way.

Back on topic: I went to see Eastern Promises last night. 3 people got up and walked out just over half way through. What is wrong with people?

Are you sure he wasn't talking about Shark Tail? Can't see how A film about a rat chef can be compared to one about a lost fish.

Nearly left The English Patient what a load of boring crap, woman liked it but not for me.
As for crying babies wagon sat down beside me with bawling baby during the Truman Show, lot of people told her to take it out but she didn't, but then nobody went and complained about it.
Avoid cinemas most of the time now unless its something that I really want to see like the next Batman and then try to go at an off peak time so I don't have scangers kicking the seats, chawing nachos in my ears or chatting to their scanger mates on mobiles.

I also remember wanting to walk out of Finding Nemo but didnt because friends were loving it - I just didnt get the big horrah over it- The writing was awful-etc it had gapping plot holes, bad character development, amongst over things.

I wish I had. It was like watching someone else play a two hour, vaguely homoerotic video game.

yeah, finding nemo was awful.. I didn't watch it in a cinema, but I did leave the sitting room while my friends were watching it and listened to some music, played some darts in the kitchen until it was over.

and troy... my friends knew how much I hated troy, so whenever it came on sky digital (every ten ****ing minutes), they'd turn it on until I went nuts at them. Then they'd either turn it off, or just leave it on all night because I went nuts at them. bastards.

Never walked out of a movie - I'm too stubborn and always hope for a turnaround. Was tempted to a couple of times, but more from indignation than low quality.

Some of the movies here surprise me - "Finding Nemo"?! Shocking..

I don't think the scene he spoiled is famous at all. Everyone knows about the first Russian Roullette scene, but the one he gave away the result of was not that one.

Only film I walked out of was Wicker Park. It was all right up to a point when everything good in it suddenly fell apart, Coldplay comes on and it ends in the most clichéd trite way imaginable. I left as soon as that started but the gf had friends there so ended up coming back 5 minutes later to see it still hadn't quite wrapped up. And yes they all liked it.

Kind of wish I'd walked out of Death Proof and just got someone to edit Mike's scenes together for me so I could watch probably the best 20 minute short ever made. Rest of the film was garbage. I wish I'd been there to see Rodriguez's reaction when he saw the film Quentin had made as a companion piece to Planet Terror! Terror is fantastic splatastic fun :D and Death Proof is two 40 minute girls-talk-sex films linked up with the aforementioned 20 minute car mania short. :( There's barely anything in common between them except in the unreleased 20 minute version.

All the other films mentioned I don't really understand why people left because they couldn't handle it. Face your fears and all that, it's only a movie.

Sorry to get all preachy with that statement but if everybody treated their fellow audience members with respect then the cinema would be a much more enjoyable experience.

And if you really want to respect your audience get your children to shut the <censored!> up! At the Chronicles of Narnia some idiot allowed the kids to talk throughout the movie, but I don't suppose it occured to her that this was extremely rude and inconsiderate considering she also had conservations on her mobile phone not once but TWICE!

And a new one (for me anyway) was last week in Naas watching Stardust (new De Nero film) was a woman a few rows back with a baby!! I am not talking about a toddler or younger child.....I mean a brand new shiny baby who cried like ***k for about 30 mins

What was the mother thinking bringing a baby that young to the cinema?:mad::mad:

You should have gone out and complained during the film. I complained about that ignorant phone chatting woman and her annoying children after Narnia was over and I was told I should have complained during the film as they could have done something about them then.

When I saw The Phantom Menace in 1999, the same thing happened to me. The Star Wars theme tune started up and a baby started to scream from the noise. Afterwards I complained and the staff said that the mother had the baby out in the foyer trying to calm it down. I said they should have asked them to leave and the staff said the couldn't because they paid for their ticket.

I didn't say anything after that, but I should have told them that they should have asked her to leave and refunded her ticket.

Never really understood the principle of paying to see a movie, after reading all the reviews and knowing what type of movies you like..then walking out. A mate of mine did that with Pearl Harbour..I didn't have to be Agatha to see that coming. Saying that years ago I succumbed to the hype and went to see Four Wedding and a Funeral..I managed to stay in my seat but with that manipulative rubbish flickering in front of my eyes, to this day I don't know how I stayed.
By the way I don't know how anyone can go and see Ratatouille and not enjoy it, or say the animation is less than amazing.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

but see you don't *have* to stay.. that's the point we're trying to get across. You can save 45 minutes to an hour of your life and go do something else.

OK I know everyone can make the odd mistake and go and see something they won't enjoy (only realising it half an hour into the film that in their opinion is sucks) but some people do it on a fairly regular basis. Don't understand that, sorry.

I'd guess cineworld gets more walkouts with the yearly pass? No facts to back it up obviously...

Haven't walked out on anything myself but did fall asleep at the 2nd "new" Star wars film and at the 2nd Pirates of the Carribean.

I saw American Splendor in cineworld (or whatever it was called at the time) and literally half the cinema walked out. Personally I thought it was a cracking film

I remember when I was coming home in a taxi after seeing the Passion having the following conversation:

Taxi: You just coming from the cinema?
Me: Yeah finally saw the Passion of the Christ. Didn't think that much of it, very repetitive and you were kind of bored by the end.
Taxi: Ah I really liked it and I loved the way they left it open for the sequel at the end.
    Me: Sequel?
Taxi: Yeah, sure you know the way he walked out at the end - he'll be out for revenge in the next one.
    Me:

you went to see a horror film and walked out because it scared you? what did you expect? for Leatherface to fall in love with one of the girls and have them walk off into the sunset? I mean cinema tickets are not exactly cheap so why pay for one if you know you are probably going to walk out of it

The thing with this is the first two Spiderman films were great. I loved them both. But the third one was absolutely atrocious. So I dont think its a case of people going to see it who dont like Spiderman in the first place.

The most people I have ever seen walk out of a film were at The Producers. I heard one behind me muttering about it being a musical before he left. The cinema probably half emptied for that one, although I liked it.

I went to see Terrence Malick's shocking slow 'The New World' starring Colin Farrell and more then half of the audience left before the end of the movie. I can't really blame them, it was dire stuff to endure for 2½ hours.
