TNZ to supply fast broadband to all New Zealand cities - CEO
    Published: Friday 26 October 2007

Telecom New Zealand (TNZ) will supply fast broadband to every town and city in New Zealand over the coming four years, based on a next-generation network, according to TNZ CEO Paul Reynolds. Reynolds made his comments following the submission of the company's undertakings for operational separation. Operational separation is good for customers since it promises extra choice, according to Reynolds. TNZ aims to deploy more fast ADSL2+ technology, more fibre to the street, and develop a next-generation network which can support a wide range of world class IP-based services for the company's wholesale and retail customers, said Reynolds.

Funny how the former Minister for Communications to NZ made a presentation in Dublin a few weeks ago explaining the economics of such a plan, and how the same challenges fased in Ireland were similar to NZ. Next Gen or not in terms of investment models and demographics.

The presentation was to ALTO and was reported in the Irish Times http://www.alto.ie/newsfull.asp?ID=65
