I was just wondering how people felt about this ?

Should Halloween Costumes be PC ?? Or should Halloween be a PC Free Zone ?

I'm definitely not PC at the best of times, so I think you should be allowed to dress up as whatever/whoever you want without some gob****e lecturing you on the Politics of Halloween.

didn't Prince Harry dress up as a Nazi once? he got a lot of flack for it.
It's a tough call -- fancy dress is always dressing up as a character... but some people will always take offense to non PC stuff.

the uniform he was wearing was that of the afrika korps who were under the command of rommell. The afrika korps were actually never implicated in any war crimes.etc

scummy english tabloids blew it out of proportion.
Part of the fun of halloween is dressing silly and to make it completely pc is to lose the whole meaning. though some things can just be wrong to dress up as, it's all a bit of fun

    [not a nazi] [/not a nazi]

I doubt anyone would notice. Skeletons are a common costume every year.

I wonder if you'd get away with dressing as a member of "the Klan"?

If you start getting hassle for it, then you can say you're a ghost.
Dress up whichever way you like. If people have a problem, then so be it. You enjoy yourself while they piss and moan for the rest of the evening.

Last year i was a mujaheddin taliban. I had the special head scarf, and military getup, and a toy M16. And a few toy grenades. And i let my beard grow a bit long. Walked through galway like that and I was grand.

I'd say you can get away with dressing up as anything.

How ? by disappearing half way through the night and reappearing in Morocco, or floating down a river with your throat cut, 6 months later ?? :D

This is why I never want to be famous.

It should be a PC-free zone.

Only if you wear crotchless panties at the same time.

    Thats been my experience anyway.

There is some line imo. I wouldn't be a PC person either but Halloween isn't a free pass to wear something completely OTT (which a NAZI uniform would be).

Surely people who wear a really offensive costume purely in the hope of causing offence and getting a reaction are just as bad as PC people?

what about going as "Stephen Hawkings" ? I mean, ok, a NAZI uniform would be offensive to many people, but only as offensive as an American uniform, or an IDF uniform would be to, say, a Muslim/Arab. Where do you draw the line ?

No, PC has gone crazy. It shouldn't be 100% open, but it shouldn't have lots of limits either

PC? Nothing should ever be PC. That way we're all on an even keel and we can stop taking ourselves so seriously. It also means we won't get offended so much and won't keep getting piles from riding around on our high horses.

Some things would be too far, but mostly the whole PC thing has become far to serious. Funny is good, if we can't laugh at ourselves we have problems.

Me and the girl-friend are dressing up as the McCann parents. Everything from the shorts and t-shirt to the summer dress and the travel bag with blonde hair coming out one end and a foot coming out of the other.
