yeah we were actually amazed that people were allowed stand there - but I guess its safe enough. Got loads of pics and a couple of vids. Very windy that day though so the vid sounds all over the place.

Sorry about the bad quality video I had to make make a 60mb video into something under 1mb in order to upload it! Terribly slow internet connection!! thanks very much Irish broadband

thanks henry, but i wanted to know what the aeroplane was - not where I was! Its arrecife.

The arrecife video is a B737. Quality is not good enough to judge the airline...

    what does crabby mean?
yeah it was SO windy that day. We had rented bicycles and were going along the cycle track that runs right from Puerto Del Carmen to the Airport. We had to turn back shortly after we shot this vid cuz the wind was so strong it was blowing sand up from the beach into our faces. It was like glass! Glad we weren't flying that day :) I'm a bad enough flyer without adverse weather conditions!!!

Its a technique of landing when the wind is affecting approach to a runway.

Planes like to land into the direction the wind is blowing. When there's a crosswind blowing from either side of the runway they approach the runway pointing into the wind but it appears as if they're flying sideways then swing around just before touchdown to land straight on the runway.

Its amazing to see and a bit weird be on when it happens. In feb coming into Heahthrow the EI airbus I was on felt like we were flying towards the terminal during the last bit of the landing then swung nicely to a perfect landing. Wind was very bad that night but pilots get very good at those landings due to European weather!
