    Nope that is Referees.

Mariowilliams what are you looking to know about coaching? There is the Association page:

    http://www.americanfootball.ie/
    who run the IAFL

    http://www.iafl.info

There is a IAFCA who are the Coaching association but if you go to the contact us section on either of the above you can call or email the relevent board member.

There are coaching clinics run every year by the IAFCA based on the British model Level 1 up to Level 5. Your best bet if you are interested in Coaching is join a team and learn the game from a practical level and then do all the Levels required. As much as people think they know the game from watching on tv or playing madden you would be surprised the amount of things you learn at a practical level and doing said courses. My opinion your first step is to join a team and ask can you watch how other coaches do it and and maybe try playing also. Dulpit gave you the link for the Refs another good way to get started in learning the game. DF the game in this country models its rules on the NCAA as do alot of the leagues in Europe.

    Hi.
Here, in my modest opinion, is the best matherials on coaching http://eteamz.active.com/football/instruction/tips/index.cfm?

I'm extensively using it as for my team (Sharks Constanta, http://ct-sharks.com), you can find there playbooks, formation per formation basis and schemes categorized offense/defense/special team, coaching tips and articles.

Another gold place, a mine, where everything is treated also position per position, with good videos is here:
    http://www.play-football.net/en/tv/coaches_videos/

    All that is free accessible/downloadable.

    Cheers and success!

    Big.

Good links there BigRechin, I actually have the full copy of that Rutgers video and it is a damn good film for coaches.

Oh and if anyone is ever thinking about every playing or coaching American Football: Please, please, please, please watch this video http://www.play-football.net/en/tv/coaches_videos/video.php?id=22 - it will save you or one of your players a serious injury! Either that or scare you into not playing.

Meant to say that in general terms, wasnt directing it at you BigR!

But yeah it's crazy how many people lower their heads without realising what it can do.

How are the Sharks going, are you a new team?

Yeah, it's never advised too much at all that, and injuries could happen even if you don't want to use your head down, anyway. For this matter we, in every training session, put great emphasis on neck's exercices.

Yes, mine is a new team, and in Romania weren't any kind of teams before, though.
I hope that till summer '08 there will be some matches between us and some other locally former teams as well as with some european one.. Who knows.. We have started also by zero, for this sport it was before only slightly aired by one tv and only sometimes.

Here, american football isn't yet officially recognized as a sport.. It is all to be build from zero and there are not so many people that know it, as in the rest of Europe/World... hehe!

I'm italian, moved to Romania, and played in the '80s with Milano Rams.. LDE.
