    Hey all,

My 1999 Hyundai Coupe needs new tyres - where should I go for this? As far as I can see I can hit my local garage, go to Fastfit or one of those places, or even order them online (and take them down to the local garage and just pay for labour?) - what would you recommend? I basically need the most basic set of tyres possible so am looking to keep costs to a minimum. I get along well with the lads at the local garage (friends of family) so would prefer to throw the business their way if the costs are fairly similar. Do the specialist tyre places waive labour if you buy the tyres from them?

I have always gotten my tires at Roundabout Tyres on walkinstown roundabout, cheap and quick. He's been in business for about 30 years or so and have only ever heard good things about his service.

If you are trying to keep costs low - then buy them online - great choice of tyres at all prices - only thing is - if you go cheap - you wont get good quality! But im sure you know that!!! ;)

And a lot of places won't fit tyres that they didn't supply.

Check out www.eiretyres.com. They can be cheap but also factor into account that you will have to pay extra to have them fitted. This can mean that the saving from buying online may not be as great as expected. So compare the final price between tyre centres and online.

Also as already stated alot of places will not fit tyres they didn't sell. Check out the website for a list of fitters in your area before buying online.

BTW while trying to save some money on tyres is a good thing don't skimp on the quality of tyre. Tyres along with brakes are all that keep you on the road so treat them accordingly.

OP - Unless you are single with nobody who cares about you, i'd rethink this approach to your tyres.:)
