how do i change xp license

hi just wondering could anybody could help me out ,i want
to change the name on a windows x/p pro license.

yeah you see i picked up a 2nd hand pc and i want to change
the name on the licence.

you would need to get the original owner to contact the computer manufacturer if it was bought with the pc, otherwise contact microsoft.

in both cases the onriginal owner would need to transfer it over

I'm confused.

The licence is registered to the machine that it's installed on, not to an individuals name.

Do you mean when you right click on 'my computer' and select properties and in the 'general' tab it says "Registered to - [previous owners name]"? Is that what you want to change?
