    Hi All,

Looking for recommendations for a mechanic / wheel specialist near Dublin Airport who would be able to remove a broken wheelnut on a BMW 520.

Last weekend when driving along the wheel started to come off as not tightened correctly after brake pads being changed. As a result 4 of the nuts in the wheel came out with ringed thread and 1 broke of in the hub.

The car is currently in a towing depot up by the airport waiting for me to organise for someone to look at it as couldn't find a garage on a bank holiday Saturday afternoon.

My father in law does have a set of left hand drill bits which he says could be used for attempting to remove this. Would anyone recommend this course of action, obviously I would then have to by replacement wheel nuts also.

    Any advice greatly received !

I had a broken wheelnut on a (strangely enough) BMW 518i a while back, i didnt end up having anything done with it as I had to return the car but when I had left it in for vetting in my local garage they said it can be a simple removel or a nightmare in which they have to "split bearings" among other things, TBH i dont know what that means but people who have a knowledge of the mechanics of cars will know. My garage guy also said it was a definite NCT failing offence...

Not a great deal of help i suppose but theres my two cents anyway...

Get whoever fitted the brake pads to sort this out and remind them they are lucky know one was badly hurt or even worse!

Was the brother in law so not really an option as not a fully equiped garage.
