    What part is insane?

    Anyway, clearly you are wrong.

    This

    http://www.shelbournefc.ie/news.php?id=615

Is the most insane club statement ever.
    2. Europe

I note, with interest, many of the comments written in relation to the club deciding not to apply for a UEFA Licence this season and I note, especially, the comments enquiring as to whether or not members of the Board of Management have the “male sexual organs” required to deal with such bodies as the FAI and the Licensing Committee. Well, let me say that the members of the Board not only have the required sexual organs, but with what we have had to deal with over the last three months, have had to have them coated with steel. It certainly was not an easy decision not to apply for UEFA Licence and we had many discussions relating to this at Board level.

Danger here as Wisla drop by

NEVER mind the gangs of New York, the gangs of Krakow will hit Richmond Park next month when Polish side Wisla Krakow take on St Pat's in a friendly.

Wisla Krakow and their fans were recently featured on Ross Kemp's Sky One show 'Gangs', which focuses on the activities and lifestyles of some of the most dangerous gangs in the world.

Anyone for Richmond on November 13? Thought not.

Polish fans were brilliant and created a decent atmosphere 3000 at the game, roughly 60 grand or so for the club.

Glen fitz played we scored shortly after he was subbed, both sides had 3rd strength teams out and both were up for it.

Maguire and O'Connor from SPA FC to Rovers and Stapelton from Kildare.

    All official.

Unnofficial and with varying levels of truth are Gavin Whelan, Anto Murphy, Dave Mooney if a suitable overseas deal doenst happen, James Keddy and Doherty from Longford to Rovers

    Kevin Doherty?

    rofl.

Great player, but he is the Darren Anterton of the eL.

Philly Hughes apparently on his way to Kildare next season. Not too surprised really as he's had a shocker of a season after last years heroics.

Shame to see Darragh go, great player for us. Delighted O Connor gone , no idea why rovers signed him and let Cassidy go.

Maguire Murphy fahey were all at the match last night in their pats tracksuits, connor played which was very odd, if he had of got injured would have ruled out any move
    He was awful tho.

Drogs ground got rezoned and PP objections have been removed paving the way for this

Drogheda United Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Australian midfielder Adam Hughes. Formerly of Sligo Rovers, Hughes has put pen to paper on a three year deal with the club and will fight it out for a spot in what is already a very competitive midfield.

Manager Paul Doolin was delighted with the signing, saying "Adam has done very well since he came to Ireland. He can play all over midfield, he scores goals, he can see a good pass, and he is physically big as well."

Doolin also refused to rule out the possibility of further signings in the off-season, stating "We would be looking to unearth another player or two. It would be great to pick out another Guy Bates.”

We would like to welcome Adam to the club and wish him all the best during his time here.

Apologies if this was mentioned in another thread.

I was driving down Dublin Street in Dundalk the other day and saw a huge billboard poster celebrating Drogheda United's Eircom league success. It said "The Best is Yet to Come"

As a Drogs fan living in Dundalk I nearly wet myself laughing. When I drove past later in the day half the poster had been ripped away. It turns out the bill posters accidently (?) put the poster up in Dundalk instead of Drogheda, causing a diplomatic incident between the two clubs.

    Wonderful stuff.

All this proves is Scully is able to get far more out of players than Johnny Mac. Keep the 'rejects' like Ger Rowe coming our way and we will keep sending you the likes of Lee Roche! :D Business like that makes it fairly obvious why Kerr is back in the Pats setup....

Philly Hughes and another Dundalk player, Keith Dunne, apparently, to Shels.

IF, and it's a very fúcking big if, in my opinion, Philly hughes can recapture his form of two seasons ago, and we can keep Anto Flood, that will be a decent strike partnership.

But, the Shels BoM had this to say recently.

    http://shelbournefc.ie/news.php?id=787
As a part time club, all our players are only paid for the season and not for a full 52 weeks. Therefore unless otherwise agreed with players, they are all free agents at the end of the season. That is not to say that they won’t be re-signed for next year. Dermot is, as we speak, negotiating with some players from our team from last season together with possible new players for next season with a view to putting a squad together within the constraints of a very, very tight budget. Believe me, he is creating miracles at the moment. As soon as his work is complete and he is ready to give a definite list of departures and arrivals, it will be posted here on the web.

So, all of our players are free agents. Some will stay, but on a reduced budget, I can't see us having the 22/23 man squad we had last season. Which is good news.

Already Mark Leech and Mark McCulloch have gone to Galway.

I won't be predicting any promotions for us any time soon, but I think a top four finish would be decent. If the squad is up to it. If it isn't, because lack of money will inevitably mean lack of talent, then I'd be happy with a bottom place finish and survival for the club.

Either way, it won't be pretty football. It never is in the First Division.

The new-playoff system between the 1st division and 'A' Championship kicks off at the end of next season, does it not? If Shels finish in the bottom 2 (I think), they will have to play-off against any non-league side that finishes in the top 4 of the A Championship (who meet the necessary criteria to join the league) to keep their place in the 1st division for 2009. In other words, Shels, or any other 1st division team (not looking at anyone in particular, Kilkenny …), could be relegated from the league altogether. That's my understanding of the new rules anyway.

Fúck sake, get out of Scully's ass will you.

No-one claimed he wasn't a decent manager. He's done good work with some small time teams, Kilkenny and yourselves to be exact. But he has used something in the region of a thousand players in his two jobs.

Anyway, he'll be off to Cork soon enough. Who will you get then? Nutsy imo.

Yeah, I know all of that.

but still, I'd rather Shels kept going at any level than absolutely cripple ourselves budget wise trying to achieve the impossible.

I already have that T-Shirt, and i don't need another one, thank you very much.

We don't get our debts written off, like another club I can think of.

Yeah, you did well thirty years ago. Bra-fúcking-vo.

At this point in time you are a part time club, who nealry went out of existence a couple of years ago. Currently re-building, and fair play to you.

But, as long as you remain part time, you are going to be in the shadow of the Clubs With Money TM

Ehhh, you are a Shels fan. All of the above applies to you except for the fans getting off their arses and saving their club. Our debt was a fraction of yours and we paid a lot more of it than shelsweb wisdom.

Back to the discussion in hand, Scully saw something in Ger Rowe that Pats failed to spot and Shels were unwilling to risk young players.

Last time I cared SSG were propping up the exact same business model that had you relegated with no say in the running of the club. Pointless.

The 'rich Aussie dude' is an ordinary member who lent the 400c money and has all been paid back. Hardly Chelsea in its scale. I know of Shels fans with more net worth than him who wont do similar because there are no controls in place at Shels to stop the exact same financial and legal mess occuring again.

I'm saying we paid off a great deal more than 1% as you are trying to make out here. The overwhelming bulk of the million was directors loans, and were sorted out internally and next largest the taxman, who took the lot. Then some suppliers were left and they got a varying proportions of this back, and most are actually still suppliers to the club.

Rather than sit there and abuse us for sorting our mess out legally and correctly, why not try and learn from it? You are in a similar situaion with no stadium, so leaving Tolka debt free might be do-able?

The debts are being serviced. Slowly.

As for your childish swipe at SSDG. We are propping up nothing.

The only money to have gone near the club was last years league Fees, and some money to the commercial dept for advertising for sponsorship.

Depends on what they were giving money to McGuire for...

If he was a supplier, he got a significant percentage back.

You are making out that there were legions of innocent business men fleeced by a club who refused to pay them and then just carried on with a clean slate. If that is your understanding of what transpired and you are involved with the fans group trying to save Shels, things are starting to fall into place as to why they have failed.

Well, that is what happened to my uncle. He isn't a supplier, he's a Rovers fan, who happened to have some money. He paid wages to the players, out of his own pocket, for a couple of weeks, on the understanding he'd get it back. And never saw the money again. He was lied to by the club. He is now thirty grand poorer.

You can dispute that, call me a liar or whatever. But it happened. To my uncle.

You have a very poor grasp of what Rovers did under examinership. Seeing as your club is also assetless and broke, surely you in the SSG should have done a much more in depth analysis of whether the examinsership route is the right one for shels. If not, why not and if so, how are you still making those outlandish claims?

Basically Des, you seem like a decent bloke and someone I would love to have a pint with, but you are way off on saying we 'had our debts written off' and if you are that wring here, what else are you wrong on?
