I'm not really looking for anything in particular, just something fairly recent and visually impressive like Transformers or 300.
Any sites I can check other than play? (€28 for a not so new film is kind of taking the piss...)

Dont think Transformers is out on blu-ray and might never be...

Mission Impossible 3 looks class in blu ray,as does the day after tomorrow and King Kong

The transformers trailer is downloadable on the PS3.

Seems strange that it won't be on blu ray

Its because Paramount went HDDVD exclusive after that trailer had been put on the PSN

I've read about that, didn't realise transformers was caught up in it .

After reading a few bits and pieces on it ,paramount seem to be loosing that battle very steeply 2 -1 for blu ray.

Without going too off topic ,their reason was because blu-ray was more expensive to produce. But so was everything when it came out first

Thanks guys, I might just pick up 300 from Sendit then. It's only really so that I have something to put my new tv & PS3 through its paces... DVDs look spot on on it, so I'll prolly just end up getting Transformers on DVD instead...

Its best to buy in sterling from Sendit. Their exchange rate to Euro has gone crap, a bit like play.com, but, unlike play, Sendit allow you to pay in sterling or Euro.

Cool, ended up buying Oldboy from Sendit - not too sure if it'll be a great showcase of Hi def viewing, but at least I'll have a movie that I actually love instead of a disposable hollywood blockbuster...

Tman ,I read reviews from here for quality.
They give bit rates of movies in some reviews, makes it easier when purchasing.

Actually it was because the HD-DVD backers forked over $150 million to paramount and also promised them a load of promotional tie ins and financial marketing support. The deal only runs for 18 months and doesn't include any of Steven Spielberg's movies, most of which are Paramount.

Just Google "paramount HD DVD deal" and all the details are available online
