Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He was out of his depth from day one so not a shock. Though to be fair he didn't inherit the best of squads. Wanted them down last year, hopefully they will this year.

Really? They don't have any redeeming qualities whatsoever to be fair.

wanted them to stay up last year, i like paul jewell. couldnt care less this year, would prefer Sunderland to go down if i had a choice though.

    Derby,Sunderland,Wigan. That'd do me :)

+1. That'd be beautiful. Pity four teams can't go down though so Middlesbrough can go back where they belong. Horrible team too.

Well more from the last 2 years under Jewell really cos they were the first of the smaller teams to abort the 4-5-1 crap that crept into the PL the last few years and actually go for it with 4-4-2.

Id much much rather that Middlesboro, Derby and Sunderland went down to be honest.

2nd time Chris Hutchins has failed to make it Christmas. I think he'll stick to being an assistant

Wtf did they appoint him for? No manager would have done any better with that rubbish squad of players.

Poor Wigan, they are kind of plastic in fairness, with the cash available they can't blame the manager, so rumours are rife that "Where's your trophies Graeme Souness?" is set to take over, perfectly suited, ****e team, ****e manager

    Yeah, Souness is 1/2.

But Jewell is 8/1, so is Stuart pearce.

    Bizarre from the bookies imo.

Just thinking about it now, it's like deja vu with Bradford.

Jewell keeps Bradford up last day, leaves, Hutchings takes over, starts off decent(win over Chelsea), then it falls apart and he is gone in November!:D

He was well outta his depth

Really bad move on the part of Whelan given what happened at Bradford. Anyone in football knew that Hutchings was a coach and not suitable for management and his experience at Bradford showed that.

I think Wigan moved early to get Souness as he was whoring hiself on RTE on Sat. night for the Ireland job.

How many unexperienced managers have turned out to be a succes in the premiership?

Hutching, Sammy Lee, Les Read.................anyone could see straight away that were only gonna make things worse. And theres a few others, who still have a job because they have decent players but there never gonna get any better.

probably the right decision but anyone else find the timing (after a defeat to Chelsea) odd? Reminds of when Sunderland sacked Peter Reid after they lost at Arsenal - I mean, did they expect anything better?

I know they've been poor for more than one match but why would a defeat to a team who've finished 1st-1st-2nd in the last three years be the last straw?

It's probably a worse idea to appoint a new manager for a game against Chelsea where they simply weren't going to win. I can't see them getting anything from their next 2 games either in fairness. They probably should have kept him on until after the Arsenal game.

it had been suggested in other places (can't remember which paper) that Dave Whelan had lost interest in the fares of Wigan after last years seesaw relegation battle. I think the stress and the whole apparent futility of life in the lower half of the premiership had gotten to a lot of people in the club. perhaps this is him rekindling his interest, or simply him attempting to be seen doing something about it by the fans.

tbh the fares of Wigan don't bother me, as a club they are really just making up the numbers it seems this season.

outside of maybe seven clubs for europe and 4 of those in the top 4 isnt every team just making up the numbers?

dont know how true these suggestions are as Whelan is ending his major involvement with Wigans Rugby league side and is likely to be focussing even more on Wigan FC now
