    Who cares!!!??? :D

Ah no, really, are they alternating (one after the other in sequence) or are they flashing v randomly?

first obvious question is are they standard or are they retro fitted?

I have a HID xenon kit on my car , and they work fine on dipped/main beams but when they are only on sidelights they flicker and flash like cop lights aswell (gotta be carefull)

... the reason for that is that on my car when the sidelights are on the normal halogens used to very dimmly come on aswell by drawing a small bit of current - with xenon lights they cant take a small bit of current like halogens can (xenon are either on or off) so when they are on sidelight mode they do the crazy flickering thing.

It could also be that the ballasts are not igniting the bulbs properly if it happens on dipped/main beams aswell

    they are OE not aftermarket

is it happening on normal beams??

.. If so i'd say it is a problem with the ballasts not igniting the bulbs correctly

    Yes on normal beams
when the ignition is off they are fine ?

If they are factory fitted then you need to go to your dealer and have them interogate the fault !

At a guess, you need new ballast units. I have no idea how much MB would charge, but they should be available on eBay.

    Bulb failure I think.

Sounds like the ballast units are gone , If it was the bulbs there would be no light at all .

Some aftermarket HID specialists advise that the lamp will cycle on and off at the end of its life. That's why I wouldn't rule out the bulb. That's not to say that it's not the ballast of course. Wouldn't it be unusual for both ballast units or both bulbs to go simultaneously? (assuming that they were working perfectly before...)

.......oooops..................yeah thats what I meant to say, bring it to someone who can fix it instead of someone who can issue an invoice !! ;)
