How many people here would be interested in a sticky thread listing routes referenced using G-Maps Pedometer? (E.g. this one, supplied by Morgan: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1375437) If enough people are interested, I'm hoping the moderator of this forum will help us out.

I suggest a consistent format for the posts should be adhered to - maybe something like this:

    Route URL: [G-Maps pedometer reference]

Length: [Given in km & miles]

Approximate duration: [Based on an average speed calculated from an actual ride, if possible]

Location: [Country / County or region / Local area]

Hill factor: [A number between 1 and 10, where 10 is Tour de France-style murderous climbing and 1 is completely flat. Open to suggestions for how this could be expressed.]

Any other important/useful information: [E.g. how much traffic might be on the route at certain times; if it's ever impassable due to ice etc.]

If you are interested in routes in Ireland from a particular mapping site like G-Map then presumably they have a search or location index feature, using that makes more sense than stickying a thread here.

A thread here might be useful to bring together links to Irish routes from different mapping sites (there are quite a few).

    I'd suggest:

    * Adding total ascend (if known)
    * Awarding a figure for scenic beauty
    * Limiting listings to Irish routes only
    * Not using TdF climbs as a reference given that there are no climbs in Ireland of the length found in the TdF

I'd agree with Membrane, links to Irish routes in the various mapping services makes most sense.

Irish routes on Bikely and MapMyRide:

    http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/country/117
    http://www.mapmyride.com/search?lstRouteTypeID=2&btnSearch=go&txtLocation=ireland&x=0&y=0

Route planning sites that don't have a database/search:

    http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/
    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

Fair enough. Maybe those links should go into the sticky thread that's already there, then?
