Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

HDMI Switch/Splitter Box

I have an Onkyo 605 Amp which has 2 HDMI inputs, and 1 HDMI Output. I have a Plasma and now a new projector which I would like to feed a picture too, not simultaneously however (at present anyway).

I am wondering would a HDMI Switch/Splitter Box do the trick for me, I think it will.

So if I run the HDMI out from the Amp to the Input of the Splitter, and then connect the output on the splitter to both the TV and projector I should be okay.

    Any comments ?

Also, anyone any feedback on good splitters ?

yeah that would be fine. just get a good switcher to keep the quality high.

i use a QED one, its 1 in and 8 out, driving 8 TVs and picture looks great.

Geffen are also good as well,

Thanks Moe, any recommendations on where to source them either online or in store ? I've browsed a bit, but not turning anything up easily.

In store (or online), Peats and Maplin would have such devices, though they are quite expensive.

This thread on AVF might be of interest.

Thanks, think I am gonna go with this from Octava.

Im not sure that it matters , it certainly shouldnt on a straight switcher anyway , but that octava box is 1.2 compliant whereas the Onkyo is 1.3 compliant , which may mean that you lose the Dolby trueHD / DTS master HD through that box.
( HDMI 1.3 being one of the big reasons to switch to the Onkyo for me anyway.)

Ok, but I think I am alright, as I just want to send picture to plasma, and projector, sound via HMDI via amp.

Yeah, I reckon the Octava will do your job. As you say, the 1.3 will be irrelevant as you're splitting the output of the amp, as opposed to splitting before the amp.

they are very pricey. they're more of a pro install bit of kit so you wont find it in Power City etc... probably online or a specialist home cinema company
