How do you join a server by IP

In main scren open console with "`" key
connect then ip

for example
connect 212.187.209.242:28960

If your joining a server thats gives you awaiting connection message a bit longer than usual just open console and type / reconnect

Cant add it to favourites without finding it on the list


Copy your COD MP shortcut on desktop and add this to the target +connect 212.187.209.242:28960 rename ot to GFF or somfin and game instantly joins your server.

So your full target line should be "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +connect 212.187.209.242:28960


Makes me feel less dumb for forgetting about the console

I had similar issues with my servers, its when the server doesnt resolve the master server, a reboot of the server should fix it,

Tried the reboot a few times,looks like its sorted now anyways

Seems us Irish guys suffer highish pings however,our european members ping fine even though server is in london.
Must be whatever way we are routed to the server.

im having serious issues connecting to servers, 9 out of 10 attempts to connect to any server incl the GFF one results in connection timed out. Any one else having this problem?

Yeah i get it on all servers,as do all the guys i play with.
Seems to be widespread.
Sometimes i connect first try other times can take 6-7 attempts.

Working on getting a few Irish low ping servers up. Wont help us Nordies, but then again you Southies need the advantage tbh.

Ive been pinging 60 to UK servers whereas my clanmates in the UK were pinging 30. It doesnt sound too bad but it makes quite a noticable difference

Also, you can increase the number of connection attempts by putting "/cl_connectionattempts 100" in the console.

I connect on third attemp usually, you can also try to set connections attempts higher in console:

/cl_connectionAttempts 20 (10 is default)

Theres am Irish server up already,Zeroy has one up for his clan and is based in Ireland with nice pings.

Yeah, pings should be good i normally get 12-20ms

I like the different levels, small enough that it doesnt take too long to learn them.

On a side note, Where do you get claymores?

None of my Classes seemed to have them

Dont forget its more fun when you join us on TS.

Quick tip about knifing, pick the perk for extra special grenades,this means you get 3 more special nades.
Make sure for grenades you have selected flashbangs for you special grenade slot.
This translates to 3 flashbangs which means easy knfe kills when used properly.
Got 16 knife kills in a row without dying lastnight :P

Yeah that was me, I hope to get on again tonight so I'll try and do better then. I only noticed the Class Creation tab after I logged off last night so I might try and customise a class this evening.

Cheers Jackobo,seen quite a few TiG past and present and even former TiG with another clan tag on last night.

Looks like COD4 is proving a big hit.

Our server seems to have high pings compared to other servers but it doesnt seem to affect the gameplay.
I wonder how accurate the ping on scoreboard really is.

Yeah gg's, most of us playing our first ever rounds of COD. Server was good, no lag whatsoever. Smartgaming have a server up now which is mixed modes over all the maps. The SAB and SD game modes are top notch.

Yeah it was good fun on yer server last night, a bit mad and hectic, i was on the receiving end of a lot of bowie knives, but good craic all the same. Logging into the server was a joy compared to the wait for other servers as well.

Map rotation changed to include both domination and sabotage modes.

We have switched to hardcore mode to see how it goes.
