Summons question

    Quick question, need some advice...

Back in 2004 i was living in the Uk and was back in Dublin on leave. Gave my sister-in-law a lift into work because she was late, and as my luck would have it got a speeding ticket...

Anyway, headed back to UK day or two later, and sent a cheque over when the fine arrived in Dublin. I was then sent to Iraq for 6 months. Long story short the person i sent the cheque to never left it in for me. And by the time i got back a summons had arrived and i'd missed the court date...

I'm now back in Ireland... Do i go to my local Garda station and explain or where do i stand? Would I have automatically got 4 points? And what about the fine?? can anyone shed some light on this?

I'd leave out the was sent to Iraq bit for starters, it's not going to get you off on a good footing in this country. Call the Garda Fixed Penalty Office, 01-6668500.

    ?????????????????

OP; as the previous poster said, contact whoever issued the ticket and explain what happened. Alternatively, contact the court clerk.
