    Hi there,
I was thinking of getting a Ferrari experience for my bf who loves anything to do with cars, the faster the better.
I was wondering has anyone done one of these, (so far i think they are only based in the UK), and was it worth the money and trip over?

if he is a true car nut then yes he certainly will enjoy it, if you think he might not be entirely - then I imagine he wont as he'll be more nervous about damaging it than anything else.

I don't think the crowd in Ireland do it anymore, sorry.

Yeh, I did the ultimate supercar experience at thruxton. (www.thruxtonracing.co.uk) It was a really good day, I arrived about 1 and finished about 4. When you arrive at the track you get a briefing about the track and then the instructor brings you out in a Mazda 3 MPS for 3 high speed laps. Then you get to drive a Posche Cayman, Porsche 997 Turbo, Ferrari 430, and a Lamborgini Murcielago for 4 laps each. It was an amazing experience, but I'd knock it on a few points:

First, the 4 laps in any of those cars is over in 4 or 5 minutes tops, so just as your kind of getting used to the cars your finished.

Second, the track was packed the day I was there. There were loads of people (race drivers giving demo laps and people doing the experience) on the track at any one time.

Third, I wasnt too concerned about learning the best racing techniques, I just wanted to give the cars a bit of throttle and see what kind of speed that I could get out of them and feel the acceleration. But the instructors focused on teaching you to drive the track properly, which is fair enough, especially with the amount of people there. But I just wanted to d1ck around and see what speed I could get up to, I did manage 130mph in the Porsche though:D

And last is the price, I did it as part of my 21st birthday present and it was VERY expensive!! I think the driving cost €710, photos and dvd €75 EACH (they were optional but WAY over priced!) And then flights and car rental. So in total for me and my dad to fly over and for me to do the driving, get the photos and DVD it probably cost €1100/€1200!!!

When I lived in Paris a few guys did this course and raved about it:

There are options ranging from €99 upwards. Personally, I'd go with the €199 or €249 options which get you a few laps in a Ferrari F430, which is Ferrari's latest and greatest model.

The lads assured me that they weren't restricted at all regards being allowed to give it plenty of power. He'll need a full Irish driver's license.

You can book return flights to Paris for €20 all in at Ryanair at the minute, so now's probably a good time to go.

Thanks for all the replies guys, gives me lots to look at. To be honest i was only looking at spending about 150 euro on this and organising flights over nearer the time.
I saw these 2 on ebay and i'm wondering is this car any good?

It's in Sheffield i think. Should be easy enough and cheap enough to get to.
And yes, he's a true car nut!!

I did the mondello one in the single seater race cars and thought it was great, i cant imagine any ferrari being as much fun and as tight on the corners as these cars, nad the speed you can get up to on the main straight is brilliant with the wind bashing you into the seat.,
this is a link to them, it should work out a lot cheaper than going to the uk.,
