board in the car, low tide at 5ish. Will be out by the dart station in killiney or whiterock if its still too onshore. A repeat of 2 weeks would be splendid tho! clean and glassy, time will tell!!

I take it all will be flat on the east coast this evening? Worth a look I suppose. Yesterday evening in Portmarnock was ok if only the howling onshore wind would drop away... Anyone see anything today?

Bray was small and not that great. there was one guy out there though.

Does North County Dublin/Meath/Louth ever have waves?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,125 ✭✭✭lightening

These Northerly winds might make Portmarnock workable tonight after work. Won't make it myself, sailing, let me know if anyone heads out!!!

Dont know about Portmarnock but Killiney was beautiful yesterday after lunch at low tide. Clean lines, slightly even glassy waves you could say with the odd 4/5 footer rolling in! Bout 6 or so hardy souls out!

I presume we're all too busy surfing to post on this thread this weekend....

Portmarnock was ok tonight.... a bit messy but good fun.

Thinking of heading out to Portmarnock this evening after work, but it looks like the wind might have died down.

Anyone reckon there might be anything there?
Have a longboard so don't really need "A Perfect Storm" type conditions!

It was dead this morning when I was leaving for work. I wouldn't get my hopes up unless the wind picks up significantly! Still no harm in checking it though

You need a strong Northerly I am afraid, its dropped to a force 4 today and is veering off North...

Pity - serves me right for reading the thread two days late!

    Cheers for the replies

Monday the 26th in Killiney was the best I've ever seen Dublin. Was anyone else out?

I was out for a wile but I felt bad cause my girlfriend was sitting in the car.

    Did you see it?

Big (enough) decent enough period and a beautiful sunset.

Pitty it happened to coincide with this map debacle...

Look like this sunday might bring in something on the east, any ideas?

Was thinking Magheramore might work with the southerlies?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 524 ✭✭✭Exar Khun

Will it not just be blown out mush?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57 ✭✭dutchgoldtony

    Hoping not!

Been down there a few days when a southerly wind has thrown up a bit of swell, could be messy though.

On magicseaweed looks like there may be a bit of swell poking around the south-east corner too?

    No??

Was just dropping the parents into Malahide for the Clapton gig (they're getting soaked as we speak) and the waves looked ok, hopefully tomorrow the wind might kick it up a bit, although wind guru and MSW have it looking very strong (the wind that is), might be worth a look though...

well according to MSW Dublin is going to be going off Wednesday and Saturday
    http://magicseaweed.com/Dublin-Area-Surf-Report/694/detailedLongRange/uk/

Can someone check this out and let us know if it's true? When they say "Dublin area", what beaches would b effected? Killiney?

Anyone have any idea of what Killiney / Bray is looking like today?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 99 ✭✭will3k

I was driving near Killaney today about 12pm, had a quick look at the spot known as white rocks (I think!) There was a small wave 6inchs maybe, not sure about what effect tides have on this spot, I'm new to east coast surf, never saw the point. :)

Anyone have an info on tides for white rocks? or Wicklow spots?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 55 ✭✭Masta Chief

Killiney is rarely good , best spot in wicklow ( with regular waves ) is Brittas bay..was there last night , and twice the week before......

I've heard Brittas closes out really fast no?

Magheramore has worked out for me a few times though - generally from September to February

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 55 ✭✭Masta Chief

sorry when I said brittas I meant ( maghermore ) I just use Brittas to describe the general area Maghermore is where we were last night...

Same as. Was down about 5.30/6pm maybe 1-2ft waves but with very little power behind them. Good to get the hair wet anyway. Nice friendly crowd out too. First time out in the east and I'll be heading out again. :)

one of my mates couldnt make it down on wed night so we went down to Maghermore last night(even though MSW had pretty much nothing).
Just us and one local (a seal ) on the beach much better waves than wed night (but you still have to wait) stayed till dark, starting to like this beach just for a random evening surf. Still no west coast though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 347 ✭✭Mhmm...weetabix

Anyone get out to Maghermore today/tonight/lastnight (depending on when you read this) if so was it any use? Trying to decide wheter to head West or just stay home tomorrow, on MSW the conditions look similar enough. I've got plans tomorrow evening and the 90 minutes saved by staying near Dublin could be handy, then again if there's no waves there's no point! Advice please!
    Thank's,
    Dave
