Strength of aluminium

    Good afternoon gents, following a discussion over on the airsoft forum regarding the ability of 0.2g 6mm bb to penetrate an aluminium coke can, some of use were wondering, how much force does it actually take to pentrate the side of an aluminium can?
    (not for any devious purpose, we want to show that it's actually not all that much force given that a bb will shoot through one side of a coke can but cant penetrate skin)

    so does anyone know how to work this out?

    any help much appreciated

    I wouldn't be sure of the exact force, but I do know that recently all the cans have been really reduced in strength (for enviroment reasons). You can easily crush one now with your hand, which you couldn't do a few years ago.
