Locked door - will not open! Help

    Hi,

    the back passenger driver side door of my car wont open. The handle wont open (it locks when the handle is pushed in).

    Any ideas how to open it. The door is shut obviously so cant get at the lock.

    any advice would be great!!

    presume it's a Ford of some sort?

    has the car got central locking or deadlocking?

    It's common enough on most last generation VWs too.

    It also sometimes happens to my parent's Mazda 626. Usually opens eventually.

    You could try and take off the door card and root around inside the door to try and get it opened.

    It may be a stupid question but have you tried it from the outside, could the child lock be on?

    it sounds like Ford door handles where you push the door release handle in to lock the car?

    ya its a ford - 96 escort.

    Def not a child lock.

    Dont think I can get the door card off without ripping it out as u need to take screws out from the part of the door by the locked.

    Will just rip it I think!!
